Hi, My mum is visiting in December and for new yr night we want to go somewhere nice where we can have the best views. It's our first new year too in Dubai :) any ideas on where to go? someone mentioned TGI Fridays in Dubai Mall has the best view? Is that true..

After a horrible experience on the metro last year I am staying far away from the Dubai Mall. I would recommend one of the restaurants on the Marina at Festival City, I think Chi Zen (which is licensed) has the best view but I know More Cafe is on the water too. Anyway if you haven’t been there you can see the Burj Khalifa perfectly, full view, and no nightmare traffic afterwards. Plus I'm sure from there you're bound to see other firework displays. Here's a link to the Festival City Marina http://mourjan-festivalmarina.com/facilities/restaurant.html

There were no unoccupied taxis and the metro wasnt running after 12am. It was awful :-(

It really would depend on your budget. Some of the best places to watch the fireworks can be really expensive on NYE.

Best one for me is the time we jsut went to the beach by the Burj Al Arab and watched theirs, they are always good, traffic leaving is a bit of a nightmare thou. So if your looking for a resturant somewhere near the Burj would be my suggestion.
