Small box was Dhs 80; family box was Dhs 140 or 160. They contained small potatoes, tomatoes, plenty of mushrooms, cucumbers, basil pot, 2-3 aubergines.
Is it the same people that did it from there last year?
As felt they were very overpriced compared to the sellers at Souk al Bahar and the place that used to be off Al Manara, plus not as fresh and was dead or rotting within a couple of days. Maybe just a bad batch I got, but put me right off.
Out of interest, how much were the boxes and what did they contain? Maybe, I'll give them another bash.
I went today and wasnt impressed at all.
No? Why not?
Haven't been this year yet.Unfortunately for me, the veg box contained things I had already bought the day before at Al Wasl Spinneys. I was keen on buying some locally grown organic onions, watermelon and zucchini. I think I was expecting stalls from more farmers, like the Souk Al Bahar market, where you have some veg stalls, some people selling free-range eggs, etc. I did have a good browse thru the House of Prose stall without darling LOs to interrupt.
We arrived at 10.30 and the big family box was sold out, so we got two small boxes of veg. There were green capsicums, alot of potatoes (more than a week's worth), tomatoes and portobello mushrooms. I was pretty disappointed by the lack of salad leaves but its still better than nothing.
I love Saturdays at the Garden Center. Where else can you get locally grown, freshly picked organic veggies in Dubai? AND have an amazing cup of coffee AND perhaps a bit of lunch while browsing through second hand books while your little one watches the fish and turtles. Also other locally produced items for sale. and such a fun 'garden' to take a stroll in out back- with gorgeous goldfish in the pond (feeding at 10am). What a treat!
