At a Fast Food Joint. ordering an adults meal. - maam you want pepsi with the meal? - no actually it is for a child so can I just have a child's orange juice please - ok you pay 3 aed more - but i'm already paying for an adult's meal and this is a child's drink, why would it be more? - mam you pay 3 aed more - i'm not really disputing paying 3 aed more but just wondering what the logic is behind charging more for a child's drink than an adult drink? *blank stare* - so, just to clarify - a child's drink is smaller but costs 3 aed more than an adult's drink? - ok I remove the drink cost from the meal and add in the child's drink now you pay 1 aed more mam. - *despairingly taking 1 aed out of purse* but isn't juice more expensive than pepsi though ?

When ordering burger in TGI's they asked me how I would like the burger cooked to which I replied 'Medium/rare'. The waitress returned 2 minutes later saying, 'I'm sorry Maaaaam we don't have Meduim/rare Burgers left, Only Well done'. - Not quite sure how it gets to well done without passing Medium :) I then asked why they could not do the burger Medium/rare, to which she replies 'Because it at a dangerous level to eat maaaam' - They would explode if they saw Steak Tartare :D

Ah the good old Overheard at McDonalds thread, I remember when it started in 2009. Last week I had one of those moments, instead of a conversation it was their action that did it. I was unloading my items at the cashier in Waitrose when one of their staff came to help, i let them finish of unloading whilst I attend to my daughter. When i wasn't looking he put a bag of nike trainers that i brought from the nike store with the rest of the food items. He proceeded to open the bag and place the trainers when i turned round I told him 'what are you doing' whilst giving him a confused look. The cashier said 'sorry maam he's new'.

hahah, what was the actual thing the poster Overheard at McDonalds? And who was the OP? wasn't it something about someone moving to Cannes...... Monaco maybe? I vaguely remember posting on a thread years ago about overhearing two alpha mummies having a competitive chat in Costa. Pretty sure I didn't start the thread though so it could have been in reply to a Cannes one. I believe the original thread started in 2009. I copied and pasted many of the stories posters wrote to keep them for a coffee table book for whenever we move home, but unfortunately didn't copy and paste the original post that started the whole thing. I don't think it had anything to do with Cannes- the OP titled the thread Overheard at McDonalds, and it was a story about the Mcdonalds clerk not getting an order right, I think the customer was trying to order water or exchange a drink in a meal or something. Anyways, it sure created a great thread, and a few more to follow!

I remember the Monaco thread Daza!! Lady all proud of her move to a new house in Dubai as it had an additional floor level which would be soooooooo convenient when she has guests around. Second lady casually saying oh we are moving as well - first lady asking where to? - second lady casually saying "to Monaco" - First lady went yellow!!! B**ger I missed that! :D

Just rang to book in for a chemical peel, after a special was offered by a well known clinic. Me: Does the doctor do it or is it a technican? Receptionist: No its a therapist Me: Ok, can I book in for Thursday R: No the doctor isnt here Me: I didnt think the doctor did it? R: No the doctor doesnt, its the therapist Me: so why do I need to book an appointment when the doctor is there? R: because the therapist does it? Me: (knowing this would go round in circles for a while) ok, can I book when the doctor is there then. R: No, the doctor doesnt do it Me: ok, when is the next appointment? R: we dont have one on Thursday Me: ok, can I make an appointment I dont care when just make the appointment R: but the doctor doesnt do it. Me: sigh Eventually got an appointment book. The clinic cannot perform any procedures unless there is a Dr on the premises.

I bought some underwear recently in American Eagle dubai mall, they are priced 30 to 50 aed each, but they have an offer to buy 7 for 130 aed. I selected 8 pieces: - I get these, I know that your offer is for 7, but I pay one separately. So I will pay 160. She rings the items. - ma'am, it will be 180. -why not 160? -it is 130 for seven, and 50 extra for this one. -can you make these the 7, and this one for 30 the extra? - sorry ma'am, company policy, the most expensive item should be extra. -ok, can I then just buy these 7 first, and then buy the 30 aed panty completely separately? Just pretend I am two customers? -yes ma'am, you can do that. Brainless managers???

I get unusually excited when I see an "Overheard at McDonalds" thread come up. I believe the first one was over 5 years ago! So now I'm patiently waiting for the first "why is this called Overheard at McDonalds? I don't get it..." I love these Dubai moments. :) I was just thinking to my self I wonder why it is called overheard at mc Donald's. :)
