We had amazing service from Pickford's international team last year. Cannot fault them. Yes, there was a delay, but because all government offices this end shut during Hajj! Not really Pickford's fault, and I was kept totally up to date.
However, they came and did a full survey of what we were taking to price things up. I'm not sure how they can quote without seeing it. It's pretty skilled job knowing how many boxes things are going to take, and how that will fit in a skybox. We had vast warnings that if we added stuff, and there were more boxes than quoted, the price would increase. Sounds like the service may be area dependant, but I'd be wary of using them withour a survey of volume, despite our excellent experience (including unwiring the whole computer and printer for me, as they came at a days notice when our mobilisation was changed, and I just hadn't got round to it)
I know it's some time ago but we used Allied Pickfords for our move to Dubai in 2005 and also for our move from Dubai to Muscat in 2012 and were very happy with the service on both occasions ( they packed and unpacked both times ). Everything arrived intact on each move and they dealt with all the customs formalities each time, too.
Hi all,
I am moving to Dubai from the UK at the end of February and am planning on shipping my belongings from my one bed flat out with me.
I've had three quotes for packing and shipping and Pickfords came in at the cheapest (c. £1900 GBP) but didn't visit my property and have been a bit slow on communications.
Has anyone used them before? Good or bad reviews? Main thing is everything arriving in one piece and within a decent time frame!
