Hi

My son had a fall this morning and has had part of his forehead glued together (as an alternative to having stitches).

The doc we saw at the ER said we could show him to a plastic surgeon to ensure the scar is minimized.

Has anyone had similar experience here? Could you recommend a plastic surgeon for this sort of a job?

TIA

Derien and Pentel.. Thanks for your replies. When I took my son to the A&E at the American Hospital they contemplated stitching the cut or gluing it. The doc decided that gluing it should do the job fine. So, they have glued it and plastered the top. They say it should heal in 4-5 days. I assume this should be fine for the cut? Would gluing leave more of a scar as opposed to stitching? TIA The glue should leave less of a scar than stitching-one of the reasons it is done

I agree with Pentel! And the degree of scarring will also depend on where the injury was. My daughter cut the corner of her eye when she was two ( only 4 stitches) and there is and always will be a little scar. It is not ugly at all but given the location, surgery would not have helped. edited by derien on 05/07/2011

Thanks ladies. I shall look into the doctors suggested. if you haven't had his head stitched up by now then you've no chance of minimising scarring!!

Dr Yasser Khattab - he is at City Hospital. I had a procedure carried out on my face and the result was amazing. I have used both Dr Jaffer Khan and Dr Khattab and I think they are both brilliant, however in these kinds of situations I would use Dr Khattab. All the best for your little one. SD xx
