Well I've done about 20 tests and all positive, still can't believe it. I'll have to go to a doctor here as delaying the inevitable. Any recommendations? There are British doctors at the GMC. p.s. My closest friend didn't get married until five months pregnant, went throught government neo-natal and delivered at Al Wasl and never had any issues or queries re marriage date. You could have conceived somewhere other than day after all...

I have known a few people in this situation and it has never been a problem, but probably less of a problem if you are not muslim and western. You should get married before you give birth here, but not for neonatal appointments or to visit the doctor...although again, I would choose a western doctor. I'm sure lots of people will disagree, this is just my experience.

Just book to get married asap. I agree, keep it very quiet, there are some people that could grass you up. Good luck.

The pharmeacy in Mercato has the tests that can tell you how far along you are Also the obvious advice to add to what has been given - I wouldn't share this news with anyone at your employment , post anything at all on Facebook and other social media, and make sure username or previous posts do not have identifying factors. I know this may seem over the top but better to be safe and very discreet while you are here. As others posters have advised unless your married get care and deliver out of the region

No judgments, not much to add, but if I were in your shoes, I would take a home test which you can buy at any pharmacy. That way you don't have a "time-stamp," or any record of a positive pregnancy test on your medical file at a GP and proceed from there. Precisely! And do it the first thing after waking up in the morning. This way you get a right result. Get the twin pack, to double check for 2 days.

Congrats! Where is your home town? Is it viable for you to go and stay there this year?... Or get married ASAP. I wouldn't want to risk it. All babies are an amazing blessing. Our little surprise is so precious. Rest up and try and enjoy this special time.

I did a home test last night and it was positive and said conception 1-2 weeks, so very very early. But you hear of false positives. Will try another one this evening. These days pregnancy home pregnancy tests are very accurate - in many countries doctors don't bother to do another test False positives are very very rare - the test analyzes hormones that are only present in pregnancy. False negatives occur sometimes if the hormone level is not high enough to register

I wouldn't count on a "false positive" Got no advice other than what's already been said, don't take any unnecesary chances, much better to enjoy your pregnancy and future life than to jeopardize it.

I know the score here, but think I may be pregnant. I'm not yet married, but am engaged. I need to make a GP appointment to confirm the pregnancy. Will they do anything with me being unmarried if the test is positive? Or do I have some leeway? Totally unexpected and now in blind panic! Take the Clear Blue Pregnancy Kit..buyt 2 or 3 pcs if you really want to make sure you are pregnant. If all came positive, then obviously you are. No need for blood test not unless you are experiencing discomfort now which maybe the result of some internal thing. Private Clinics do welcome cases such as yours. You might want to google some and try to inquire over the phone explaining briefly about your situation. They do receive calls such as this case of yours here in Dubai so don't panic. I had 2 friends who went on the same path in the past and they managed to have a few early check ups there. Just my two cents, I will not risk delivering the baby here in the UAE even if you get married asap, as paper work will take time. The reason is that immigration people or even the hospital people literally and strictly count the appropriate months you carried the baby and the date you got married. You could search on google about articles of women who faced problems with same. These are their rules and not to mention the stress it 'could' build in time to you thinking of how or why. It shouldn't be since the baby might be affected too. No judgement, not to sound too forward but only an opinion. edited by mommypie2015 on 23/02/2015

OP, you don't need a GP to confirm the pregnancy, home tests are very accurate and I'm sure like most women you will do more than one anyway! Blood tests only *need* to be done if there are some issues and hormone levels need checked. I haven't had a blood test to confirm pregnancy with any of my children. I had my first baby in the UK where they don't do confirmation blood tests as a matter of course. Blood tests are the norm here, they are yet another thing they can charge you for, but they certainly aren't necessary.

I know someone who was in your position and she went to Prime medical in bur dubai...cant remember the gynies name though

If it were me I'd be on the first available flight out or arranging to get married pronto as others have suggested. Should anything go wrong, God forbid, and you needed medical/hospital treatment you could find yourself on the wrong side of the law and, worse, on the wrong side of some bars. Wishing you all good luck

If you want to deliver in Dubai I suggest you get married straight away. Otherwise you will have to leave the country, deliver and come back with your baby. They won't ask you for paperwork for maternity appointments, only for the actual delivery. However, should you for some reason (god forbid) delivery early, you could get into serious trouble...

I have had friends who were in a similar situation and they got married pronto, don't quote me on this but I think if you don't get married by a certain point then it could cause huge problems. I wouldn't personally go to a GP here just incase however that is your call to make as accidents can and do happen. Have you done a pregnancy test?
