Yes, there is such a thing :) I am doing this for 2 years now and found out that it is difficult to find someone good, but there are people that are very good at this. Most are actually fully booked If you are interested or you need some advice on how it works and what are the traps you need to look for, please let me know. Will be happy to help :D

HI there - This may not be exactly what you were thinking, but what about families who come here to visit during the summer and need a place to stay? I mean families of residents here... Then you wouldn't have to pay them as they would take care of the house/pets? edited by SuzyDuzy on 23/08/2011

JShepherd; my mother does that part time for quite a few people here, house-sitting that is. She's not a business, but just a stay at home mom who's eager to be busy during the day. She has great references from people. If you don't find anyone by then, let me know. She usually does this through word of mouth and through my friends since she is not operating as an actual business (she just hates living off me and my sister), but if you don't find anyone we can provide great references. We have two dogs, a cat and an african grey parrot, so she's not new to animals. She's a mom, a wife, so the cleaning part as most of you imagine is better than most maids :)

Thats y I don't go away the whole summer couldn't leave my dogs in kennels that long and homelypetz are expensive as well. Start saving secretly now lol so your dh won't have a clue how much it will be.

Thanks... will try those sites. MOT yes tried pet sitting but v expensive with 3 dogs 3 x day for 2 months! also villa needs to be cleaned while away can you imagine 2 months of no cleaning and 3 dogs in the house! It was bad enough this year for a few weeks. Worse case dogs can go to keenels but again big cost and my old boy will not like it one bit :(
