The Duster is more or less a Dacia and re-badged as a Renault. There might be some modifications and changes, but it is more or less a Dacia and I think made in Romania (might be wrong on that part). Can't say if it is any good, but Dacia isn't exactly renowned for brilliance!

My car was made in Turkey. The dealership needs to make spare parts much cheaper comparable to corollas, Tiidas........the oil filters were not available at petrol stations, we had to take the car to the dealer for each oil change....service was expensive...yes the car was cheap but all we had was problems

renaults are not made in france, for gulf spec anyways, i think they come from india or something such like, if you just want a runround car to get from a to b then they will be fine, but dont expect a good resale value, people who live here only understand certain makes, even for eg, if you have a mercury which is a ford, because its not a ford they dont like it. someone bought second hand a 4x4 mountaineer which is the same as a ford explorer, but couldnt get it that when he had to leave and resale he had to drop the price to really cheap. you cannot compare any manufacturer to having rally cars, so that means that impreza cars are just as fast as the rally cars. dont think so, if you want to sell it again especially quickly then you have to go with cars that are recognised here, nissan, toyota, ford etc

My car was badly made . The door covering the petrol tank cap broke after 2 years and I saw a few cars with the same problem. The glove compartment hinges kept breaking, had to change the ac condenser twice at 3000 dhs a piece within 3 years....was glad when I managed to sell it !! The same car in France is very popular and is very well built. The cars doing Paris Dakar are modified and most certainly made with different specs that what we buy in the UAE ....some cheap heap of steel ...just a waste of money ?

Renault and Nissan have been one company for a few years now.....but this had no effects on spare parts parts...very expensive. French cars are not made for the harsh weather of the gulf. I had a very bad experience with a Renault , now I stick to Japanese cars ( Toyotas )

Renault has been bought out by Nissan so now parts are cheaper and more common. The Duster has Gulf Specs and Nissan parts as per radio interview when launched. I think it's great value for money but don't have one.

Bought a Renault Clio car a few years back..bad idea. Spare parts really expensive ( brake pads twice the price of Camry ) and only available through the dealer. Very poor finishing. Spent 3000 dhs fixing the AC not once but twice!! The cars sold here are not the same quality as the ones we buy in France. Sold it a year back ! Now I will only buy Japanese cars .

Not yet but have seen a few around and done a bit of research - we're planning to get one in Dec, they seem like a really good deal. Like you, I would be interested to hear others' opinions...
