Have to agree, miniclub. Plus ... drainage? No issues in our villa [or our neighbours'>. But if there are drainage issues in Meadows 9, then they're probably dotted around most developments. Oh. And there are loads of cats living in villas on our streets. Been around for years. :)

Luddite Posts 264 Not safe if you have a cat - I know this seems a bit random but it's true... also poor drainage in some properties. No community pool. Cheapest of the meadows for a reason. It is quiet though... What! we were one of the first families to move into Meadows 9. It is a lovely quiet place to be as a human not sure about the cat community though!! No problems with drainage and we have our own pool, which most of the houses in Meadows 9 have, so no need for community pool. However if you have little kids then the springs is only 5 mins away and they have 2 pools. The only problem for me is driving to Spinneys means driving completly in the wrong direction to come all the way back on yourself, but I guess that is a problem every where in Dubai with the American road system.

Not all the streets are near the pylons in Meadows 9. We live in a street which I'm sure is at least a km from the pylons lining the back of the development. As simpleasabc says, it's really quiet here -- no construction noise at all -- and minutes [in a car'> from the Spinneys Town Centre. I walk there in winter though [doesn't take long'>. I also love the lake and the paths down the streets; great for taking the dogs on their daily constitutional. It doesn't, however, have a real community feel, I'll give you that. There are some children's parks dotted around but no community pool, but you don't get the family feel for which Arabian Ranches is renowned. But we're childless so it suits us to a tee. And we deliberately chose our place for just that reason [and the fact we have a pool in our backyard!'>. You'll find there are more than a few villas in Meadows 9 which come with their own pool because of the lack of a community one. Good luck in your decision. :) PS. There have been discussions on Meadows 9 in the past; see if you can find them using the search function near the top of the page. . edited by WaxMuch on 04/08/2011

Know what you mean, AussiePup. See if you can find some authoritative research, one way or another, on the net, perhaps, before you make a decision? I think there is a certain distance from pylons which may be considered safe, but I can't find reference to it at the moment. 250 metres rings a bell, but I could be completely wrong. DH did some last night he was on the net for about 5 hrs searching. He found simialr distances to what you mention. Some say 200meters, it use to be only 100 but they thought that wasn't far enough and now are saying 200. Some other research says 200-600. I'm assuming in the house though you are protected, it would just really be out and about walking and spending a lot of time out there walking?

I'm skeptical too... just worried about future pregancies and living close to the pylons and for my 1 year old son now?

Yes, there are two pools in nearby Springs 14 which peeps from Meadows 9 are able to use.

I think why people like it less is because its got no pool/facilities within the actual community, although I think you are allowed to use the neighboring ones.

I have loads of friends who live in Meadows and they love it there. Say its a very well developed community with schools, clinics, restaurants, petrol pump, grocery stores etc all within walking distance.

I love it here, apart from the pylons :) It's the only place I've lived in in Dubai, so nothing to compare it with here. It's peaceful, mostly the only sound is birds singing. Some nice lakes to take the dog for walks round when it's cooler. Not far from the Town Centre complex.. I will say, it's a bit far out, I always forget to add on an extra 10 mins to every journey just for getting on to the SZR..
