Hi ladies,
I have seen a apartment in rimal, jbr, that i like, but i am bit concerned about the noise and the traffic. the apartment is on a low floor, sea view, but not directly on the walk (a bit behind, if that makes sense). Is the noise and traffic really that bad? Also, what are the current price for a 4 bedrooms apartment in this sector? Any other issues I should be aware? Thanks a lot for your replies

Our lease is not expiring till next year and will only get the letter 3 months before it does so will not need to look for a while yet thank goodness. We will try to stay down this end but will most probably end up in Sadaf or down that end where they have bigger ones, but definitely still in JBR.

@ Genkigirl Good to hear it is not due to maintenance issues but I didn't think it would be as we too are more than happy with our services. We are in Amwaj and, like your building, I understand ours is almost full. I think the same goes for all of Amwaj sector and is evident from the extra vehicles in the car parks. Hope you manage to find another apartment that suits when your lease expires.

No not due to maintenance issues at all! In fact idama have been amazing of late and any maintenance issues have been dealt with very efficiently. Shams 1 has been sold and as half is already salwan hotel apartments when people's leases are up they are not being re-newed. The vacated apartments will be turned into more hotel apartments or sold to private people. Sadly, the building is the fullest it has been in 3 years and people don't want to move but have no choice.

I don't think you can take into account the opinions of people who have never even lived in JBR. That is really clutching at straws to justify what you think. I also find it rather silly that you are bringing JBR into threads of posters asking for reviews on restaurants, etc. They are interested in the restaurants and not your comments on living in JBR. You are like the proverbial dog with a bone. If you dislike living in JBR so much, why don't you move out ? edited by amelia on 13/10/2011 we cant move out DH may be getting transferred to KSA

@Genkigirl Being totally inquisitive - but why are all the tenants in your Shams building being asked to leave ? my guess is that it must be related to maintenance issues edited by sarahkay686 on 13/10/2011

Well said Amelia, I think she has nothing better to do with her time trying to dissuade people from living in JBR. Obviously its not for her but for us here , we like it! When our lease expires next year we will most probably continue living here. Again noise in Shams is really not a problem for us, hardly hear any on the weekend unless our doors are open and its not cool enough for that yet. Some people may not enjoy it and move out for various reasons but others remain and are happy. The tenants in our building are all being turfed out at the end of our lease and none of us want to go but have no choice and the majority I have spoken to if had a choice would not leave and as they have to will continue to find somewhere still in JBR as they like it here. Speaks for itself!!! I think this thread should end too.

DinAces21 is quite right saying that JBR is not for eyeryone. There are lots of other areas in Dubai that I would not want to live, but I'm sure that the people who do live wherever, would disagree with me. Sorry your husband doesn't believe me S.K., but I know I am telling the truth and not just what I would want people to hear or believe. I think this thread has gone on long enough now as it's becoming boring and it's time to draw a line under it. As I said previously, we will have to agree to disagree.

Everyone should be entitled to one's own opinion, right? I personally have never seen an official survey. However, I will include my Family of 5 on the "Enjoys the JBR" vote. I do understand completely that it is not for everyone.

DEWA will have your monthly housing fee added, which is based on your rent, so they all differ. We have a 2 bed. and our consumption charge varies between 150 and 250 a month. EMPOWER have a quarterly charge, again based on your rent, and our consumption charge is between 100 and 300 depending on the time of the year and how much we use the a/c. TV, 'phone, internet, are supplied by Du and the charge will vary depending on which package you choose. I think they start from about 300 a month for a basic package with upgrades costing more. edited by amelia on 09/10/2011

Agree ! JBR is one great place to live. We have been in Amwaj (which I think is the quieter end of JBR) for 3 1/2 years and love it. edited by amelia on 07/10/2011

Anyone? Please... LOL the whole place is a dump Do you live in jbr? Don't see how you can say that. Some areas are nicer that others and if was really a dump people would not be living there. We have lived sin shams for 3 1/2 years and enjoy it, trust me when I hear the stories from all my other friends in various parts all over Dubai is anywhere any better? Shams , Amwaj and Rimal are Ll nice areas, the only noise we hear at the moment is the co striation from a few buildings but it and the traffic noise does not really bother us, you get used to it, if it's there?? I say go for it! Rimal's location is great and easier to get in and out of the car park than the beginning towers of JBR.

We lived on the 14th floor of one of the Shams buildings - not sea facing BUT WOW what a noise especially at the weekends. like previously mentioned the super-duper pr*cks are out with there super-duper loud cars and harley type motor bikes. When we stayed there there was one biker that ear-splittingly revved around 10pm every night.... having siad that this was a year ago and he may have moved on by now! they'll still around unfortunately. we'll be up until about 4am this morning, and then after they've had their fun the little poppets will go home to bed and presumably enjoy a nice Friday morning lie in
