I shall attempt to stay away from AD lol! The price I was quoted was from a local dealer so I'm hoping they're not offering me something that will get me a fine.

My salik works and I still managed to get a speeding ticket with it :) yeh i know the salik works as i have cars with vkool on but thats what i was told in abu dhabi as i think it may have something to do with all the different new cameras they have here.

How would they know if it's clear film? And what's the issue with it? edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 20/11/2011 because a few years down the line it will scratch if you sun shades etc, but also the fact that all the salik and the speed cameras etc.

I had my Explorer done at 3M in Ibn Battuta a few months back and it was AED1900 in total, that was maximum tint on the back and sides and the best quality clear on the windscreen. Well worth it the car remains much cooler in summer!

Aww...bless :) I'd like to get my Prado re-done as well. The windscreen has been replaced and a couple of the other windows are starting to peel. i wouldnt bother if they apply the same rules in dubai as abu now vkool cannot apply even the clear film to the windscreen, traffic police will not allow it, if you do you will be fined if caught etc.

I had V-Kool done in Oman 7 years ago and it cost me over AED 3k then! ETA, it's a tint I want more than heat reflection if that makes sense... edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 20/11/2011 yeh we were the first in abu dhabi when they announced that expats can have a tint on their windows, so i had a seat alhambra at the time, big bus with loads of glass it cost like 1,5k but it was worth it, but it was funny as the other cars that were in the showroom at the time being done were the sheikhs aston martin and jaguars etc and then my little black bus.... lol edited by busybee2 on 20/11/2011

I got my Galloper done for about 300 aed in Satwa - 50% tint. remember though that as an expat the legal allowable limit is 30% so that tint is cheaper. All of the cars that I have done over the many years have been vkool which is expensive, and that would be more like 1500 dhs but it depends on each model, and how much window they need and also the type of car if its a sports car/expensive then the price will reflect that too. Am Muslim - can have 50% tint :D at least you dont have a much darker one, as they are very very difficult to see out of especially at night.
