Hi ladies,
Does anyone send their kids to the new Safa school?? I have heard positive things about the school but will be happy if some parents can give me some feedback
Also if you had the choice between Safa community school and star international( now called horizon international), which one would you opt for??

Here is their reply in full. I was so appreciative of their time in responding to the query. Hello Melanie, Hope things are fine with you. Regarding your query and any concerns raised on Expatwoman, we contacted both Dubai Municipality and Dubai Miracle Garden with the query and have received official responses from both. Dubai Miracle Garden assured us that the use of pest control is carried out on the saplings in their nursery located in Al Ain, 170 km away from the school. All treatments are done in strict adherence to regulatory guidelines since they are inspected regularly by Dubai Municipality. Pest control treatment undertaken at the Garden itself is minimal and is just like any pest control treatment followed in any landscaped area in Dubai ie community landscaping like the Ranches, or Dubai roads / RTA landscaping, government parks etc. Pesticides are not “sprayed every night” as one of the forum articles suggested. Dubai Municipality officials also reiterated that Dubai Miracle Garden follows all regulatory guidelines just like any other landscaping company with regards to pest control treatments and they regularly inspect them for full compliance. Dubai Municipality has strict guidelines on use of pest control which every service provider has to adhere to. Regarding ‘Orkin’, which one of the forum members mentions – Orkin is not a pesticide manufacturer or pesticide brand – it’s a pest control service company which uses approved pest control mixtures and procedures for domestic pest control. The reason it is mentioned on the Dubai Miracle Garden website is because the parent company is a franchisee for Orkin International in UAE. Incidentally, Orkin has contracts for pest control services in 86 schools in UAE as well as numerous F&B shops, cafeterias, malls etc. I hope this puts you at comfort – if you have any additional queries, we will be glad to address them.

Hi there, just a reply to those concerned about Miracle Garden. I contacted Safa Community School about this, and they have more than put my worries to rest. They have contacted both Miracle Garden and Dubai Municipality, and are entirely satisfied that any pest/plant treatment are carried out within strict regulations, and inspected regularly. Treatments are of the same as any treatment used in public landscaped areas, eating areas, malls and community gardens. There are no heavy pesticides sprayed each night, and any spraying of the plants only takes place on saplings .... in Al Ain. So it really pays to get facts!! Not sure where those women in the café got their information, but it was not at all correct. My daughter starts Year 1 at the school in September, and we are really excited ... we have had nothing but personal, warm and professional attention from this school. We can't wait to start!!

Hi! My DS is due to join Safa Community in Sept 2015. I loved everything about the school until I saw the above message regarding the pest control at Dubai Miracle Garden. Checked the website and gathered that they use ORKIN pesticide.Really beginning to worry now...has anyone else managed to find anything on this.

Not that I am trying to sway you here ( :) ). My daughter is in Horizon International and we love the foundation stage building, teachers and everything. Do the assessment and see what happens. Hope primary is as nice as the FS stage!

I would ask Miracle Gardens which pesticides they use.....and then do some internet research. Some are more nasty than others, and some of them stink!

Hello ladies! My DS is all set to start at the Safa Community too. However, am feeling a bit anxious after overhearing a conversation at a café the other morning....the gist of it being....that the miracle gardens next door get sprayed with heavy pesticides each night. Ladies at the café debated about the effects on the surrounding areas, esp given the fact that there's a school right there! If there's anyone who knows more on the subject, it would be great to hear from you Thanks

Hi twilight, Thank you for your reply. Even my child will be attending FS 2 from this sept in Safa community school. I got a very positive vibe from this school and hence decided to go ahead with this school instead of Regent international school where we had got a seat Now recently we got a call from horizon international school also for his assessment. That school was my first choice and I was pretty sure we would never get a call so I decided to go ahead with Safa but now that I got the call( as of now it's still only the assessment) I am little confused.Assuming he gets through, should I go ahead with horizon international or stick to Safa??? I love the feel of Safa and the people are very warm but on the other hand horizon also gets very good reviews so I am little confused. Anyways we ll cross the bridge when we get to it All the very best for your child...hopefully they will meet this sept at Safa Cheers

Didn't you have to make this very same choice last month as well?
