At the moment you have a pretty big chnage on the whale sharks! But yes, in the Musandam. There are some Eid trips on the live aboard dhow of al Marsa going out from Dibba. You van also stay in the Golden Tullip in Dibba and make speedboat trip dives from Dibba Oman, so no border problems as the border there is only a checkpoint of the UAE for ID. JAL is not JAL anymore, Radisson Blu Resort! At te Miramar you can stay and dive with Divers Down or stay at Holiday Beach and dive with Freestyle Divers. If you realy wanna have some great diving, go to al Sawadi Bech Resort ( Barka Oman) and dive on the Daymaniyat Islands with Extra Divers. Also a nice one is Zighy ( if money is no issue) and dive with Extra divers. For me the open air Dhow trips are the best, with a group of friends in the Musandam, bbq and shisha on the beach some diving, sleep under the stars....love it! We've done quite a bit of diving in the UAE and although its always enjoyable, it is never spectacular (unless you see a whale shark!!) Our favourites are - driving up to Khasab in the Musendam peninsular and staying over at the accomodation provided by Extra Divers (not on the beach, but perfectly adequate b & b facilities and a fixed bbq so you can cook for yourselves in the evening) then doing 1 or 2 days diving with Extra Divers (they are based next door to the Golden Tulip in Khasab) or we stay in JAL Fujeirah and dive with their in house dive team who we have always found to be excellent. If you are hiring equipment their stuff is really good. My friend swears by the dhow liveaboard cruises that now depart from the Miramar, but I've never done one of these myself. The only place I know of with huts on the beach is the Oman Dive Centre just outside of Muscat, but IMHO that's a bit too far for a normal length weekend. Edited to add: I've just realised that you are planning your trip for Eid. That would rule out Khasab as the border gets horrifically busy - we've queued for hours there just to get through. edited by shamat on 27/09/2011

My hubby and daughter went up to Sandy Beach Motel last winter. They have the chalets on the beach. Basic but clean. Am pretty sure they have a website...

Hi Ladies, Does anyone know of a good area to go scuba diving around the UAE? Thinking about going for Eid and I've heard that in a few places, you can rent bungalows on the beach? Thanks
