We've just opened a shop and ship account and want to order some things off amazon. I just have a couple of questions.
How do I know if it's cheaper to ship and order from amazon.com or from amazon.co.uk

Are the shipping fees the same?

How do I know how much my order will weigh so I can work out the cost of shipping?

TIA!!

Thanks for all the answers to my questions. Still a little confused and will need to do my sums! Will be using the UK address also for getting post sent to as I'm certain some of our post hasn't arrived, or hasn't been delivered from the company post box.

I've not shopped from Amazon US, but if it is between Amazon uk or shop and ship, I've come to the conclusion that direct shipping from Amazon uk is better for DVDs and books, they take the VAT off at the check out stage and you can see exactly what they are charging for shipping when you specify the uae shipping address, whereas if you do it via s&s you can get surprises in the charges...as I have done from experience....especially if you don't get everything in a single shipment.....plus you don't get the VAT taken off (assuming you are using the UK s&s address). For books, better still is boo depository. edited by Sugarbeach on 08/07/2011

Shipping fees are the same from your US box as your UK box so check to see which Amazon site has the cheapest product and the cheapest shipping fees. Amazon usually specifies the shipping weight. Shop & Ship rates are AED 41 up to 0.5kg, AED 73 up to 1.0kg, AED 137 up to 2 kg, etc - look here for rates http://www.shopandship.com/home.aspx

I'm no expert but I tend to go US where I can to avoid being caught with VAT. However if I'm in a hurry I'll go with UK as it seems quicker. Each item shows the shipping weight, scroll down the page until you see "Product Details". HTH!
