Sponsorship question...

My DH is currently waiting for a contract for a new job out of Dubai but within the middle east. Up until now the plan has always been for me and our dog to return to the UK plus furniture where I will get a rented house etc. the reason for being apart is that he will only get a one bedroom serviced apartment with the company. Obviously my DH sponsors me but I do work and I was kinda thinking yesterday, what are the options of me staying here on my own for say the next 3 months as we still have our villa and also the fact that I would need to find another job back in the UK which I would only get half the salary that I'm currently on now.. Would the company I'm working for sponsor me? They are a web company - I know you can't probably answer if they will sponsor me and I will make subtle enquiries at work (don't want to rattle them that I may be leaving). Has anyone had experience of doing this? Would really appreciate any input from you ladies. Thank you.

Go to the Media Freezone and get a a FREELANCE permit. You don't need your company to sponsor you then. The Freezone does. Cost is 17,000dhs for the year payable in 3 checks. Then you can work that way. Another option is to open a personal savings account before hubby has his sponsorship cancelled preferably an offshore that can't be frozen. I assume once your hubby is cancelled he has 30 days. Then once he is cancelled (as your sponsor) I would think that YOU have 30 days. The final option is to not tell you job the deal and to exit and re-enter as a tourist. How are they to know? You only need 3 months right? ;) :\:

QS, which freezone are you talking about? Fees will differ from zone to zone. The visa costs are between 3 and 4,000 AED, medical costs on top of that, etc. Around AED 5,000 should cover everything and that would be for 3 years. As well, there may be a bank guarantee taken from the company, in our free zone this is AED 3,000 per employee but in others may be a % of their salary.

I think only your company can answer whether they will sponsor you or not. I wouldn't suggest you say that you can pay for the visa costs out of your pocket nor wouldn't say under what circumstances you want to go under their sponsorship (just say that your husband is changing jobs, that's why you want to go under your co's visa). However, keep in mind, that if you go under their visa and decide to leave after 3 months, they might ask you to pay for visa expenses. Overall, this happens all the time, women under husband's sponsorship go on company's visa and vice versa.

I have no problem paying for the sponsorship fees myself and it may be that I can stay in Dubai until October. I guess I would also need a bank account of my own as my DH would no longer be here.
