Want to go away for Eid. Thinking of Sri Lanka or somewhere else close by. Looking for a nice resort, good food, nice beaches without paying too much. :)

Any tips??

TIA!!!

If you don't want to travel far, the Jetwing beach hotel in Negombo is very nice. Have a look at www.theuniquetravel.co.uk My friend owns it and shecanl make suggestions and organise it all for you at very good rates if you don't want to do it yourselves. Thanks Sue R, We've just booked in the Jetwing for a few days before christmas. The recent trip advisor reviews are excellent too.

We live 7km up in the hills above Pissouri......always cooler up here but temp today with us is a glorious 26c. This is my favourite time of year in Cyprus, there could be the odd thunderstorm but only occasionally. On the whole, great weather for sightseeing, or just relaxing in a pleasantly warm sun. Pissouri is really a very peaceful little resort, a few nice restaurants, a bit of beach and lovely scenery all around.

pissouri, colombia beach hotel. not so touristy as the other resorts in cyprus, more on the smaller side. and def. a chill place. we totalled relaxed there. just check temps now tho. as it it october. sri lanka touring the sights is def. not relaxing. its hard work. driving everywhere takes hours and traffic is awful as is driving. altho i have to say the sights are good. but again you are hastled to have someone hold your hand to climb this rock or that step. u just cant relax and enjoy the sights at all. the coast, didnt like at all, grey seas and very very rough. a tourist from our hotel drowned in the sea when we were there. stick a toe on the beach and you are not left alone for a minute, they just dont take no for an answer, no matter where u go. after the first couple days we just stayed within the grounds of hotel as we just got sick of it. we have been to patong beach hotel in phuket a number of times and altho it is touristy, we manage to chill no end on our beach bed. we come back totally chilled from thailand. where ever you go hope you have a great time.

Hmm now also considering Cyprus. DH has worked really hard and he needs to go somewhere where he can just relax, so maybe Cyprus would be a better option. Still keeping Sri Lanka in mind. Fairwater sorry to hear you didn't have a nice holiday. I was kind of hoping for serenity and your holiday didn't sound very serene. Initially I was thinking of Thailand but don't want to go where all the tourists go. Any tips on resorts that side would be welcome too. The search continues!

We had a great holiday in Sri Lanka. We did a touring holiday and didn't go to the beach at all apart from Colombo, but it was fabulous (apart from the roads and the driving!).

We went to Srilanka a month ago.. It's a great place.. One of the loveliest place is "Nuwara eliya".. And we stayed at Governor's Chalets there.. We had 3 days stay there. No activities to do, but just relax and chill around. It was 6 degrees there :) try it out!
