OK ladies....I worked in the flooring business... DO NOT USE STEAM CLEANERS ON LAMINATE!!!! Or Hardwood. It can (and most likely will) strip the finish off. Even laminate that is very high end can be completely ruined. As well, vinegar is great for tile (not unsealed MARBLE) but only in small amounts and NOT ON laminate or hardwood. My guess OP is that you have taken the finish off. Make sure you get someone in who knows their stuff and will not just "guess" or "say what you want to hear" Good luck!

My guess would be that the greasy look is from layers of old floor polish/cleaner that have previously been applied. i don't think it is possible to delaminate. I had a Karcher steam cleaner that I used to use on tiled flooring - I used to add a little white vinegar to the water to give a streak free finish. Maybe try putting a little white vinegar in the water and making a small test.

Maybe the moisture has penetrated into the laminate? I would call a flooring specialist in if it hasn't changed in 24 hours.

I bought a new steam mop online and stupidly I didn't check a patch of our flooring before using. I had one back in the UK and loved it, used it on all my tiled & hard wood floors. We are renting our apartment here and therefore have (cheap) laminate flooring... I started to use the steam mop and it created and left a greasy sheen on the floor, it's now all over our bedroom. I think I may have delaminated the floor?! Does anyone know how I can rectify the mistake? Will it just dry out? I have left it for 4 hours now and the greasy sheen is still there...Am freaking out!! Can anyone help me?! Please?! TIA
