Good morning knowledgeable ones!

I am looking for somewhere to take my 11 month old and 2 year old, on my own, in August.

I dont have a massive budget but I dont care where we go as long as it is cooler outside for the kids to play. Any idea? I could go to the UK but then that would require hiring a car, petrol costs and seeing a million people and I want to have more of a fun trip than that

I was thinking maybe Cyprus but it has been many years since I have been there

All ideas welcome :-)

Thanks
Moo

Just so you know, Air Arabia is the only airline that flies direct I believe as the others will go via Istanbul. I didn't expect you to do the boat trip with two little ones! To be honest there is plenty to do just staying at the hotel, and even if the hotels are a bit more expensive to book depending on which one you go for, you don't have to spend a thing once you get there because they are fully all-inclusive, ridiculously so!

What about Antalya in Turkey? There isn't a lot to do there other than at the hotel, as it's basically a place on the beach that has hotel after hotel of all-inclusive resorts. The hotels themselves are huge, and have a lot to do: several pools, beach, night entertainment, activities for children and adults, etc. You can leave the hotel and there are boat trips around the area and little shops. It was a great holiday for us for about a week and there was plenty to do at the hotel. It was also very easy and convenient with children. I recommend the Delphin chain of hotels (they have about 5 or 6 hotels in Antalya). Thank you - I will look into it, although not sure I am confident enough to take 2 little ones on a boat trip alone lol

I am a bit put off by going to a City I think as I have to push the kids around everywhere on my own and use public transport with them but will see if there is a hotel in Munich that is near to things so I can walk everywhere - thanks S&B CP - Cyprus cant be hotter and more humid than here, surely? Cyprus can be as hot as 40 during August and September and humid in the cities. It's never as bad on the coast though as there is always a lovely cooler breeze coming from the sea :)

Cyprus is lovely but I found it very hot in August and as was said before - it's not really set up for indoor things and we take a/c for granted here - I was surprised that none of the cafes or restaurants had a/c. I went with similar age children to yours and although we had a lovely time it was much hotter than I'd thought it would be. At least here everywhere has a/c and there are loads of things to do with your children indoors. An alternative is to plan lots of fun things to do in Dubai and the surrounding emirates. The Al Ain Zoo is lovely and during the hot weather they do a Night Zoo and they have water sprinklers all round the park to cool you down. Also, the wildlife place in Sharjah is a good whole day visit and it's in a/c. And, of course, there's lots to do in Dubai during the summer but you'll need a healthy bank balance!

I think the difference here is you have umpteen things set up for children in the heat, tons of indoor play areas etc. Cyprus is VERY hot in August and not quite as set up with a/c and things to do indoors. I think. May be worth researching that side of things.

Cyprus would be super hot in August. I guess it depends what sort of holiday you are after, active with sightseeing of somewhere to lounge around swimming pools etc. I'd go to the Alps. :)

Your kids are a bit young to travel with but we love Berlin with the kids or Munich. Cooler, beautiful weather, lovely parks and zoos - pretty much we spent all our time picnicking at the parks and it made for a very cheap vacation.
