i have a copy of a letter from DTCM (Dubai Tourism & Commerce Marketing) that was issued to all hotels / restaurants / event companies that states that the Prophet's birthday is on Saturday 4th Feb... and hence they have to refrain from serving alcohol and holding entertainment activities from from 5:30pm on Friday (3rd) to 6:30pm on Saturday (4th)...
some companies (like my husbands) have offered their employees a comp off on Sunday... but this is not mandatory...
there will probably be something in Gulf News later next week
In my husbands company, Mouloud – Birth of the Prophet Mohammed, has been announced for the 5th - they are all supposed to have the day off.
But hey, things change fast in the middle east; you can never be sure. ^^
lucky! nothing for us and there won't be unless they announce it officially...

Prophet's Birthday is I think actually on the 4th Feb - Saturday - so a day off / holiday will only be for people who work Saturday's. If you don't, then no holiday! Sorry :(
