hi there - have been invited by a friend to the early stages and would love the chance to get out of the house and into the sunshine.
bub is 3 mo and very chilled - was planning on driving and putting him in the ergo (baby carrier) and just going for a few hours. but have been told i should taxi rather than driving as parking is tricky - this will make it impossible as i'd have to take the carseat. hooly dooly - babies are such a logistical challenge :)
any advice on those that may have done the same?
tia

many years ago I took my 4 month old to the Qatar Men's Open - she was fine. Most poeple didn't know she was there. I had her wrapped her up cosy and warm (it was v cold) and breast fed her as required. It was great - if she got a bit noisy I simply left. She was far less intrusive or annoying than the people who simply couldn't leave their mobiles at home or swtich them off - or those who chose to talk through all the matches . . . . Got some great pics of her with the, then, top male tennis players in the world - all of whom were amazed she'd 'watched' them play! Maybe a bit different now in Dubai as it's busier, but really - will she be the only one to maybe 'squeak' at some point in the match ? Go and enjoy.

Go to the tennis with your LO but do not go into the stadium, there are several large screens around the grassy area by the Irish Village and last year it was lovely sitting at the Jacobs Creek stand, sipping a glass or 3 and being able to chat comforably without disturbing others. It really is a lovely day and yes, I agree with the others, being disturbed in the actual stadium would annoy the pants off me, outside it would be fine, and there will be shade etc, enjoy!

Absolutely..because when you have a baby you should be restricted to coffee mornings and playgroups and you should certainly not mix with "normal people" Hehe! Sad but true.

People don't want to listen to a baby grizzling at things like this, let's face it! Or on an airplane, or in a supermarket, or on a train etc etc etc. Kids grizzle. What can you do? anyway..don't listen to me..got my grumpy head on. You could say bears sh1t in the woods and I would argue the toss with you just for the **** of it today! HOWEVER any reasonable adult knows that people have to travel, go to shops and restaurants ie do necessary things - you just hope that parents have the sense not to take them to events where it is NOT necessary to be there.

People don't want to listen to a baby grizzling at things like this, let's face it! We've all been there ( had young children) and we don't want to listen to it anymore AND one day you will feel the same ( believe me!). People do think their baby is the greatest and cutest thing in the world but it isn't to everyone. Unfortunately everyone doesn't leave or even make any attempt to quieten their children. It's not about not mixing with normal people, it's about maybe taking a little time out from your normal life and to say "well this year I might give the golf/tennis/Amy Winehouse concert a miss as I have a young baby" . I have seen people reprimanded by caddies at golf events and really what can you do when they say "Quiet please" at the tennis? edited by spongemonkey on 16/02/2011

no offense but not sure why babies are not banned from events like this! he may be "chilled" but in case he decides to have a "bad day" you may not realize, but you will annoy 100 people.

Don't do it. You want to enjoy the tennis and so do the other spectators.

I have friends who go and have mentioned the following , Depending on the weather it can get hot there and get sunburnt without realising. If people go on mobiles or noisy adults / children , you will be asked to be quiet and if not to leave. People are there to enjoy tennis ( not a social occasion) Hopefully a 3 moth old is easier to handle than a 6 month old.

You may not be allowed in! I went with my niece when she was five and they made a huge fuss, they let us in finally but warned us if there was any noise we would have to leave. This was four years ago though, just thought I would mention it.

They now have maters for parking every where now even across the road near the foot bridge. There is free parking with buses for transfers on the web site find out where but plenty of signs around. DS is a ball boy said really cold there yesterday

parking can be a challenge but if you are going earlish and are prepared to walk from over the road - ie over the pedestrian bridge you can usually find parking over that side. Make sure you work out which way the sun is and sit on the shady side of the stadium with the little one.
