Hello All!

We're yet another family who are shortly to move to Dubai and would sooo appreciate any thoughts on the school run to and from where we're intending to live?

We are considering Safa Community School (any recent opinions on this school would also be appreciated:)) and were wondering how easily it is reached from other areas of Dubai, for example the Marina, The Greens or Business Bay.

We are also on a waiting list for DESS. How long would the school run take from the likes of Marina or The Greens?

|School run depends on the ages of your children and whether you would do the drive or put them on the school bus. If bus, then check with the school which areas it covers. The bus ride can add a lot to a child's day, particularly in this traffic. It's generally easier to live closer to the school and commute further to work than vice versa if you are doing the driving and it's much easier to do lift-sharing for parties, sports fixtures etc. if other parents at the school live nearby. I wouldn't want to do the DESS primary run from Marina or Greens. I used to do it from Jumeirah years ago and it was pretty painful then. Great school though. Quite a few DESS families live in Mirdif/Festival City but that might be the wrong side for your work commute.

I don't have kids at Safa but hear it's a lovely school. Commuting there from Business Bay would be relatively easy - although getting out of Business Bay takes some time as there is only really one way out but loads of ways in! From Greens and Marina it would take longer but manageable.

DESS is a great school but not an easy commute from The Greens or The Marina areas, you'd be better moving to Downtown or Jumeirah, Oud Metha etc. Safa Community is a lovely small school and an easy journey from The a Greens and Marina, also JVC and JVT, Sports City etc.
