Any advice on how to prevent him from doing this? He is two and a half and has no nails left. The moment a bit of nail starts showing he starts chewing and would even go and hide to partake in his guilty pleasure.

My toddler took up nail biting when we took his dummy/pacifier off him. He was just over 2 years old. I don't really know when he did it because I never saw him with his fingers in his mouth, but the state of his nails said he did. i didn't have to cut them for a year. Then one day I noticed that they were long and needed cutting - he was just over 3 and it was soon after we moved to Dubai. The nail biting polish didn't seem to do anything to stop him. But he just seemed to grow out of it. there is hope!

I'm the guilty one. Had this habit since childhood and have never been able to overcome it. Im not a terrible biter but get episodes once in a while. Will check for stuff at the pharmacy. Is it a specific brand? No idea, sorry..I just know it's a remedy for nail biters - tried to get my husband to stop years go...until you make sure he doesn't see you do it I doubt he'll stop..

Do you or your husband bite yours ?? IMO, it's likely he's copying someone...you can buy stuff to put on nails to make them taste nasty, I presume it would be safe for children - you could ask at the pharmacy. And keep his nails cut short so there's nothing to bite !!
