Hello All,

Firstly, Thank you for reading this post!

I have been living in Dubai since i got married in February this year. I am pregnant and plan to have the baby delivered in England. I have applied for a family visit visa for my husband, so he could join me on our child's birth in the UK.

It has been nearly a month and we haven't heard anything from them. I have tried calling them numerous times and have emailed too but they keep saying the same thing everytime.

I was wondering if there is anyone you may know who might be able to help us out as my due date is 12th November and I have to fly by 31-Aug as advised by my doctor. Any help on this would be higly appreciated.

Thanks

Perhaps if you shift your focus away from the Visa section which generally deals with non-UK nationals, and perhaps approach them as a "British citizen seeing assistance" This is what I found on their website : "Help for British Nationals Our Consular sections are located at - British Embassy, Abu Dhabi British Embassy, Dubai PO Box 248 PO Box 65 Tel: +971 2 610 1100 Tel: +971 4 309 4444 Fax: +971 2 610 1609 Fax: +971 4 309 4257 Opening hours at both Embassies: 0800 – 1100 hours Sunday – Thursday Admittance into the Embassies will not be possible before 0800 hours. Please bring a form of ID with you to enable entry. Closure Notice: The Consular Section in Abu Dhabi will be closed on Thursday 9 August, Sunday 12, 19 and 26 August and Sunday 2 September " I was not allowed access to discuss as I am an EU citizen and not British... hope you can access them directly?! Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I have checked online and their system keeps freezing. This is so frustrating. I hope someone out there who has a contact at the embassy gets in touch. I want my hubby to travel with me. I hope to hear from somebody soon.

We have applied for the same visa and they told us to track the progress online using the receipt we got on the same day.. have you checked online? I feel your pain as I tried calling the Embassy a hundred times, over days, and tried lots of different numbers and email addresses and recorded voices just directed us to their UK website everytime. I finally got through to someone at VFS (their Border Agency) who had never heard of the family visa and was utterly useless really. Its easier to access fort knox!

How long did they say you have to wait? I think it also depends on your husbands nationality how long the visa will take to process.

Maybe the British Embassy here in Dubai might be able to help you. Give them a ring. edited by amelia on 15/08/2012
