Fingers crossed they get through the assessments and we are meeting you in the new term in that case! All sounds very positive and more like the primary school they were in in the UK than the larger school they are in where we are now as it goes through to secondary - that definitely has it's benefits and think my eldest will miss the 'big kids' being around but thinking smaller is better for them now, at this stage.

We have only one child, currently in year 3 going to year 4 so you would be in one of the 2 classes, both very welcoming, we have had classmates join from UK and elsewhere throughout the year and they settled in right away. The classes are kept the same year on year to create bonds which is lovely. I think if we don't hear about the secondary next year then we will review but I would hate to change as our lo is so settled and loves it there although does say it is hard work ;)

Thank you for that feedback keeoerofthetreasure. Really appreciated and good to hear you are so happy with the school. Can I ask what years your children are in? My eldest is going into year 4 hence why I was wondering about secondary in case we are still there then but think there are actually lots of other secondaries to go at now even if VH doesn't build a new one in time.

Very happy parent of VH primary. We all thought the KHDA report was unfair as all parents are huge fans, I don't know of any who want to leave. A lot of the criticism of the KHDA to do with arabic not being up to standard I believe, and maybe there is a point to be made there, A lot of us think it the schoolalmost too academic in fact, a lot of homework and the kids are pushed. Passionate principal and teaching staff, very nurturing school, good kids. They are planning another school in Remraam which will have primary as well as secondary. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your responses ladies, really helpful. I had read through both reports and they were pretty similar although the BSO report was very recent and more detailed in the areas we are particularly looking at so pretty positive really. Their report on Gems Wellington In silicon oasis was surprisingly good also albeit almost two years old. Thanks heaps again, much appreciated.

Personally I don't think the KHDA report judged VH against what it was trying to be (and what it says it is). If you read the reports between the two different organisations (and the details of each) then you will see a much clearer picture. It might be that the points in one are of much more interest to you than the point in the other and that's your choice of course but I wouldn't simply go by the ratings, you should always read the full report. VH is (by my understanding) essentially a very nice little school with a very British feel to it. It might not be the best academically and there are questions about where to go for secondary, but I don't think that it's only "acceptable" IMHO.

I actually have an explanation for that ... KHDA only requires schools to be inspected after being open for a certain number of years - I think three. But the owners of Victory Heights Primary asked to be inspected earlier because they wanted to see where the experts thought they needed improvement. At the same time, they knew they would fall short on some things like "ability to show progress" and whatnot because they hadn't been open long enough to show progress. I don't have any first hand knowledge of the school so can't tell you anymore but I was at a meeting where the above was discussed and that's how I know!

Sorry just to clarify, we were interested in this school but have seen it was only rated 'acceptable' in its first KHDA report - although interestingly the British Schools Overseas inspection more recently in April rated it as 'good' and the report was mainly very positive. I wouldn't judge a school entirely by its inspection report obviously but was a bit concerned about the 'acceptable' rating so would be interested to hear some honest feedback from parents whose children attend or have attended the school. Thank you!
