Visit Visa woes for Canadians

Hi everybody,
I had a question reference getting a visit visa to Dubai. We are in Canada and would like to visit Dubai and India for a break while the weather is still good there.
I understand that a visit visa is valid for 30 days and on expiration you have to leave the country. However , what if this is what the itinerary looks like. Will a second visit visa be granted on return back into Dubai?

Toronto - Dubai 27 Feb
Dubai - India - 10 Mar (less than a month)
India - Dubai 20 Mar
Dubai - Toronto 1 April

I would appreciate anyone's input as no one seems to know. Not Emirates Airlines, not the UAE govt and no travel agencies. There is nothing concrete on any websites.

Basically, want to know - do we have to be out of Dubai in India for a month before applying for a 2nd visit visa even though the first one did not expire and we only stayed in Dubai for 12 days at the most.

Thanks ladies!

This is about daily flights into Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver! The UAE has always had to have a visa to enter Canada. When it came time to bargain the UAE visa issue was brought up as was camp mirage but I guarantee the visa for emiraties wasnt an issue. So, the Canadians can thank Haper for protecting air Canada's employees but not taking into consideration the jobs that could have been gained in Canada by allowing ek and ey more flights. Not only did Harper deny this for air Canada but he also decided to stick it to the UAE by allowing Qatar airways more flights into Canada. I just hope the UAE government realizes that just because he's the leader of Canadians we don't all agree with his policies. But hey, good for Seattle who have gained vancouvers route and jobs, I just feel sorry for the vancouverites who could have had stable employment.

Why not change your itinerary and go straight to India and come back via Dubai? Would be simpler.

Citizens of countries with many expats in Dubai, incuding many in high positions, have been going throught is process for a long time, such as South Africa, India, most Arab countries, and so on. From the UAE's side , apart from the landing rights stuff, I understand the fact that they feel their nationals shouldnt have to apply for Canadian visas when Canadians could enter visa-free

As a Canadian you can come in to the UAE with a 30 day visa and if you'd like to stay longer you can add another 30 days for about 700 aed. This is not a multiple entry visa. Its only an extension. My dad is staying for 60 days and there's either a 30 day or 90 day visa. two thirties were cheaper than a 90. I know this doesn't answer OPs question. Sorry I don't have that answer. I applied for my fathers visa through EK and it was so so simple. dnata girl said we needed everything plus the kitchen sink. showed up at EK visa office with everything and ek guy laughed, he said dnata girl had noides what she was talking about. We didnt need three quarters of the paperwork! The process is simple and to apply for an extension he said it only takes 5 minutes at the office. It's too bad we have to have the visas because it would have been nice to drive into Oman for a weekend. Thank you Harper! Don't count on the Harper gov extending an olive branch any time soon either....what a joke! edited by dogcatcher on 30/01/2012 edited by dogcatcher on 30/01/2012

I just went through this with my parents who were visiting me in Dubai and then we went for a trip to South Africa and they wanted to come back through Dubai. You CANNOT get a multiple entry visit visa for Canadians. My parents were only here for two weeks so they did not use their whole 30 days of their visa but that doesn't matter. Once you leave Dubai, your visit visa is cancelled and you have to (as Canadians) be out of Dubai for 30 days before you can get another visit visa. Even if you apply for the 90 day visit visa it is only a single entry. It's very frustrating since my parents visited in 2009 and we went on short trips to Paris and Venice and back to Dubai inbetween while they were here before. Now they can only enter Dubai once and then have to wait 30 days before entering again! ARGH!

The Canadian govt has offended the UAE government, so for over a year now, Canaidians require a visa to enter the UAE. The rules change frequently and quietly...but you need a visa. The current information should be readily available in TO... But you def need a visa and as recently as Xmas, no it is not automatic, though is sometimes 'fast tracked' if you travel Emirates of Etihad. Your visa will be a visit visa (one time 30 days with no renewal, like other western countires have) or a multiple entry visa, which costs a lot more. The only other one is a residence visa, to which you are not entitled, methinks. Check with your airline, if it is Emirates or Etihad they should know how to walk you through it, if it is another airline then go to TravelCanada and check. Then, more deeply, research the issues and VOTE for a change in the Harper govt.

As far as I know this should be no problem at all. Your initial visa will be cancelled upon departure and a new one will be issued when you return. But I am EU, so maybe the rules for Canadians are different.
