sorry, came late to this but for future reference Head and Shoulders apparently strips hair colour - years ago my hairdresser told me to avoid it for that reason ...

Thank you ladies - for all your suggestions! After reading all the posts - I went with Decolor. It seemed quick and easy. I did some research on it, and it seemed pretty okay, with mostly good results! Soooooo - I found it at Boots, and applied it as per the instructions! the hair on the top of my head has turned orange - brown! Apparently, when you keep using hair color in one area (such as I have, on the roots on my hair) it makes the hair lighter (Especially when you use black hair color - since it the strongest). While the orange-brown was a bit of a shocker, I am mostly happy with decolor! Thank you Alemania for sharing your suggestion :)

You can also put Laban into your hair and wear it for 8 hours, then maybe one tone will go off:)) or tomato ketchup or wash with Fairy dish wash liquid. You can find loads of recipes on the internet, but would you waste your time on this? I wouldn't...

I was reading one of those "10 reasons why you shouldn't drink Coke" and one of the reasons is because it removes hair dye!

Hi, Zambia, I had the same story, my ends had lots of black build up. I used Decolour Colour remover, which I found in Carrefour for 54 Dhs. It's a British product, the only one I found in Dubai. I had to use 3 packs to get my hair light brown with quite alot of copper tone. It only removes unnatural haircolor, doesn't affect your natural one on the roots and I haven't noticed much damage to my hair, though ends have become somehow dryer. I'm going to dye light brown now, hopefully the copper pigment will go. Good luck, I hope you find this product.

I used Johnson's Baby shampoo on my DD's purple hair job, took quite a few washes but it seemed to work.

Ladies - Couple days back I asked on recommendations for hair salons/hair dressers. Turns out my hair is tooooo dark for highlights and I have to bleach it - which i don't want to do considering its falling off like crazy and so dry already. Can anyone recommend any methods to remove hair dye at home? I would like the black out and my natural brownish (dark brown) tone back. Thanks in advance! edited by Zambia on 30/03/2014
