DH has just called me, he's decided to take next week off before I depart with the kids the following week!

Ideally, want somewhere not too expensive or far ( may only go for 5/6 nights) and cooler so the kids can be out and about.

Any ideas?

So far only come up with Lebanon.

I adore Greece, the food and people are lovely. Good idea LoopyL. I'm now thinking somewhere close may be the best option considering it's not for long and at short notice. It takes me me weeks normally to pack for my brood! Will report back.

There's always Jebel Hafeet in Al Ain at 4,000 ft up...... defo cooler and seriously close by. We visited on a drive out of town in January this year and it was bl*ody freezing......14 degrees!!! But, heard it's a nice place to go in summer as it's much cooler being one of the highest places in the UAE. Might be good for a long weekend if you don't find somewhere further afield to abate the summer temps for a couple of days.

Nairobi if you are into safaris, but they may require planning well ahead of time. Or Istanbul maybe, should be cooler (mostly in high 20's and low 30s) than Beirut In fact i just saw Beiruts forecast and they are forecasting mid to high 30's for next 5 days so it wont be cooler than Dubai by much
