Hi ladies,
I posted an ad today in Dubizzle to sell our 10 year old TV. Within literally 5 minutes of posting the ad, I started receiving calls from very persistent and rude people who wanted to come and buy the TV right away and even offered me more money than what I asked for.
Can someone explain me why this happened and if there is a scam involved ?

Thanks in advance

With the exception of the pushy, rude people I don't really see what the problem is here. You advertise your TV on Dubizzle and someone offers you a higher price - where's the problem? Do you really care if it will be broken into parts or shipped abroad? After all, you just wanted to get rid of it!:confused:

I only ever put my email to reply to and a fake phone number, so I can seed out the weirdest nutters.

Oh yes, I've recently gone through this too. Honestly, I thought we were selling for a lower price at first but my asking price made sense and the callers did not make much sense. I later came to know that most callers were dealers who strip the televisions for parts which they use while repairing broken down TV's as original manufacturer parts are expensive and hard to come by. I would suggest, using FB groups for your electronics as it does weed out the dealers who are really annoying.

Hi, Agreed - I've found Dubizzle full of annoying bargain hunters with their calls, emails, sms's, whatsapp messages..........'best price' 'last price' 'please send me more photos' brigade........so many time wasters, it really is difficult to distinguish between the serious / decent buyers.....and I have had instances where whole families congregated in my house to look at furniture to start bargaining, even after a reduced price had been agreed on the phone in advance......told them to leg it but still waste of my time. I know that a lot of traders operate on Dubizzle and know exactly what they can sell for overseas / secondary market. I sold my car to a trader who made it clear it was going to Pakistan on request. Electronics, appliances are also in huge demand. Last year, I've started using 'Dubai Marina Buy Buy Sell Sell' which is a FB Group - geared towards western expats, it has been far easier to sell and buy. Had a new year clear out last week and sold 15 items within 2 days......the downside is that I tend to also buy a lot of stuff there also.
