other than agencies, are there any websites i can have a look at?

a so called friend screwed me over after offering me her maid since she is leaving the country and 3 days before she left the country she called making up lies that shes not good, then she said the maid ran away etc etc (obviously she gave her away to someone else) and now my maid is leaving soon because we already gave her a notice and she is excited about finding work in a salon. i flew my mum all the way from NZ as our maid could leave any day now!

i am so upset and i can't believe this has happened!
I really have my heart set on an arabic speaking maid.

thanks,
FM

I ask for a maid who has 2-4 yrs experience in Saudi or Kuwait, they will have learned sufficient spoken Arabic.

a lot of the maid agencies in Deira and Satwa have maids waiting in their offices, maids whose initial sponsors (the ones who paid the plane tix and documentation fees in maid's home country) decided the maid didn't fit in their homes so they have been "returned" to agency. My cousin has hired 2 pleasant Arabic speaking Indonesian maids this way. Get ahold of the free "Al Waseet" Arabic newspaper on Friday and call up every published phone number. Most of the staff speak English. Foorsa ma'ak.

I think your best chance is to look for an Indonesian maid. Lot of local or GCC families hire Indonesians because most of them are Muslim and then they teach them Arabic along the way. Would try to find an agency. But yes, you can't be given a maid, the maid is a person with a mind of her own and can decide whether she wants to work with you or not. Maybe she had an offer and went for it. Why be suspicious of a friend?

Perhaps your friends maid did not want to be [i'>given[/i'> to you, so she asked her madam to make up an excuse.

We are arabic, raised up in NZ and we want the kids to learn arabic, we speak arabic at home and it would be helpful if the maid speaks arabic too as they will be home with her after school until we get in at 5 and they are in bed at 8 so a big chunk of the day will be spent with the maid.

Why do you want an Arabic speaking maid? Why is it so important?
