Hi

I'm new to all of this so apologies if this has already been discussed. We have just moved over from the UK and are searching for a family villa in Sharjah. We wanted to know if anyone can suggest some "Good" areas to try. Our children are attending Sharjah English School so want our commute to be as quick and painless as possible.

We have had Al Falaj and Al Goaz recommended to us but wondered if there is anywhere else to try aswell as not many villas available at the moment.

I don't know Sharjah at all but agents are suggesting Al Shargaan, Halwaan areas. Any ideas?? They both look a little further out to the beach on the map and I'm aware that traffic in Sharjah can be a nightmare.
As we're new over here we're just starting out at making friends. If anyone has any recommendation for places to go to meet people I'd be glad of them.....for myself and my children.

Thanks
Kerry

Great, this is all good to know. We have a viewing booked for a villa in Halwan and some other suburbs around it this weekend. It's great to hear what is working for those of you who already live in Sharjah. The wanderers club sounds very popular and a good place to meet others. Thanks all.

I lived in Al Jazzat and commuted to University City - close to the school - at that time it took about 15 minutes (and that was when it was a big roundabout at the theatre etc.) I liked Al Jazzat, while I was close to the big mosque where the R/A used to be, they had a caller with a beautiful voice and I get up early anyways. There are quite a few stand alone villas in the area. I had a great landlord (the villa was old but he maintained it well and followed up the same day - if I let him - on any issues). Good luck.

I lived in Sharjah for 30 years and just moved to Dubai. A great place to live is Halwan or Shahba area . it is 15 mns from sharjah english school and very close to the wanderers club. very quiet areas and all the streets are made ( no sand )

Also, Al Mamzar Park has a fabulous beach and is very safe for swimming - just make sure you go to the middle one - it has palm trees and you feel as though you could be on a desert island with not a crane or building in sight! x

Hi Kerry, I lived in Sharjah for a few years from 2003 and made most of my friends at the Wanderers Sport and Social Club. It's very family orientated, with a swimming pool and lots of organised sporting and social events taking place throughout the year. The club house serves decently priced food and 'real' drink (the only legal place in Sharjah), and it's a lovely safe environment for children. Some of the teachers at school have lived in Sharjah for years so it's worth asking them about the decent areas to live, bearing in mind the school run, which can be horrendous if you have to come from the Corniche. I had many happy days in Sharjah and I'm sure you will too! Good luck. PS The primary deputy head is lovely and I'm sure she wouldn't mind you asking her!

Hi Kerry, we live in Sharjah 3 years but ina appt.on Buhaira Cornische, its beautiful especially for kids, lots of parks, promenades, Al Qasba...But when you move from there, even litlle, situation isn't great :(((. I don't know about villas , but I will tell you that we never went to any beach in Sharjah, and we even avoided Mamzar, we always went to Jumirah, the people in Sharjah are still a litlle closed for any new - that is my opinion , but SHJ is realy nice :)))
