So seems that I can go with either AXA or either RSA. So off road cover seems including when I turn over in the desert :-)

I have had RSA for many years (salon car not 4x4) and have always been very happy with them!

AXA cover 4x4s off road in the lower package - they actually went through this with me when I originally took the insurance out, and said as long as your car paperwork says '4x4' somewhere, then if you turn it over in the desert, someone will come and pick you up (their words!)

I think it was the recovery section - is that part of the higher cost "executive" package? - check the wording carefully if you think you might want it. as you said, costs are similar, so just want to get the best cover that suits you. off road is off road so far as I know. - as an example - Friend had bad accident in the desert and RSA covered all costs (other than excess) for repair came to about 45% of values of car - 50% is apparently the right off limit) , but was worried about the recovery side -as it happened we were able to help them get the car out without assistance, but they were definately worried about it. At the time we checked our AXA policy, and felt we would have been covered PS - check the value they are using. we found one year they were overvalueing the car (compared with dubizzle and small adds) and as insurance cost is % of value, we were able to bring this down. They did not quiblle when we pointed to the differences.

If for a 4wd, then check off road coverage. I think RSA was worse - at least in the past - and we have used AXA for that reason. But they may have changed since we last compared Good to know, it is a 4wd :-) In both offers offroad is covered. But what is offroad for them: just little stony roads or the dunes in the desert???

Thanks guys, that sounds good. So, means I can go with which one I prefer, no big differences?

DH is with RSA, I'm with AXA. Both so far so good with call outs and repairs over the last few years! ETA, having the 'lower' of the two insurance choices from AXA, I don't get to have my Kia fixed at the dealership, but the AXA repair centre is on the Um Sequim road between MOE and Al Khail road, which is super handy for me and the guys there have been wonderful, to the point I'm very happy to use that garage when I'm paying for myself. Communication levels are high and professional. edited by pinks on 16/09/2011

I've had vehicle insurance with AXA for years and never had a problem. I've needed breakdown recovery and accident repair, both have been easy to deal with through AXA.
