It's all about the right underwear. As I write this, I am wearing a pair of giant beige long shorts that stretch from just above my knee to underneath my bust so that my behind looks reasonable in this pencil skirt! Far easier to put these on when I can't be bothered with the horrible healthy diet and exerice regime! PS - Just don't let hubby find the aforemention underwear...

When you're naturally slim it's fine as that’s just the way you are meant to be and you look healthy with it. And also the ladies who work hard to maintain their perfect figures, good on you as that obvs makes you happy and that’s the whole point. Its the ladies who THINK they should be doing the starvation and daily exercise that don't need to be doing it - or you would be already (if that makes sense) - you obviously are happier eating what you like and just having fun so stick with it and as long as you take care of your health, who cares what size you are?! When I'm out I always gravitate towards the confident/full of life people than the 'beautiful' people with no chat! - and those people come in all sizes, they're just happy with themselves!

For me if I didn't work out I'd be a chubby umpa lumpa. I'm not lucky enough to eat what I want & stay thin although I am envious of those that are.

I have 2 kids & am now a UK size 8-10. I train hard at the gym to maintain my figure (3-4 x aweek) & play tennis once a week. I eat healthy meals during the week & have my treats (chocolate, ice cream, cakes etc) at weekends only & I like to look good for myself & also for DH. Even I often have ugly days. Gorgeous is from within! Ok, after reading that I do not want to be a size 8. Too much hard work. treats at w/e only? whatttttttttttt?

yeah we all say beauty is skin deep , health is most priority, very cliche' but, naturally, women wants to look beautiful. so , what size and shape you are, as long as it within healthy limits, not obesity.... go out and look beautiful! if you can type in this forum you certainly can surf the web and get tips and ideas! be creative. if you feel just lazy to do all these, then that can't be helped.

If you look in the mirror and feel happy with what you see and when your DH get home everyday you see and feel the love from his eyes and touch, I think that is all that matter......whatever your sizes and shape. No need to be judgemental or critical about the choices that other women make in their life whether you think it's superficial or waste of time/money. Happiness and the source of it is very subjective at the end of the day. Well said!

Super skinny, overly groomed women are just advertising a deeply unattractive self-obsession. If you had the time and money that they have, think of all of the other great things that you could do! When my husband gets home from work, he is more interested in my mood than my hairstyle. If you are feeling depressed, it does affect those close to you. If a bit of exercise and a trip to the hairdresser lift your mood then go for it and enjoy!

Ladies, you are going to hate me for this. Have 2 kids am a UK size 6 - 8 and I have just gorged on 8 pcs of Patchi chocolate. Maybe its genetics, but I think the secret really is small meals, I have 6-8 'meals' even, some of these meals being 2 bars of chocolates if I please. Of course when I have too much chocos etc its shows on my skin and I am not one of those gorgeous women you see in the malls, as I don't have the time to do all that, but yes if I do spend time I can look like that :p. Money does go a long way, most of us working mums or even full time mom don't have the time/money to go to the parlour every second day, sorting our hair and nails. I have only been to the gym/workout for a 6 month phase - want to do it again coz I am slim but not fit, would love some muscle tone. I put on a healthy weight during my pregnancies, did no dieting or excercise even and was breastfeeding baby. Got back to pre-preg weight in 45 days. Here are my tips: 1. You do not have to clean your plate. That conditioning is plain wrong. My kids have never been forced to do so, listen to your stomach. 2. Small meals, small meals, small meals - I eat everything 3. Think Thin - Law of Attraction 4. For pregnancy weight gain - Breast feed your baby, Win-Win 5. Very often when we are thirsty we tend to read the signal as hunger, try having some sips of water to see if the hunger goes away 6. Do the running after your kids yourself 7. Due to ADD I tend to be inefficient in work methods. So I have to go to the fridge a few times while cooking for instance. No need for any other excercise

It is true these women are on the whole not happy , I have some friends who are French, and when I first met them at a BBQ we were having I was knocking the old champers back eating dorritos and dip , and she looked totally horrified, I asked her would she like a drink ?she said do you have any thyme ? I was like, I think we have some growing, why ? She says can I have boiling water and some soaked in it, the second time they came round she said she was Ill and was drinking peppermint tea ! it's fun all the way with this one, but the hubby is nice and a good friend of my DH so .... Now this particular woman looks so elegant all the time she's very classy, size 0, but honestly her face is like a bag of spanners ! She says to me you look so well, your skin is so healthy, it's because it's filled out and I eat and sleep! If that is what it takes to be size zero, drinking twigs in water , you can keep it thanks ! And when she wasn't looking I was feeding her kid bright orange doritos ( he wasn't allowed any fun either ) ;)

Come on ladies why are you being so hard on yourselves. As been mentioned before everyone comes in a variety of shapes and sizes and I think that as long as you are healthy and happy you’re always going to look the best you can. I have those friends who you would all consider to be the gorgeous thin girls on the beach but seriously they work harder and sacrifice more than you could know (I have some shocking stories). AND the ones who are not naturally supposed to be that thin show it in their gaunt faces, sallow complexions and zapped energy from the lack of nutrients they are getting – seriously look above the neck to see the toll it takes! Their lives revolve around their regime to the point that they miss out on all the fun stuff like meals out, pizza and wine nights in (they won’t come). Of course its fine to lose a bit of weight to feel better about yourself and well done to those who put in the effort but remember – there are more important things in life and nothing is more attractive than someone who is confident in themselves! :)

i just recently lost a little over 50lbs (approx. a little over 3 stones)... it took 6 months & I want to lose another 50lbs... just have some injuries preventing me from working out hard like I would like to... y'all can do it too! I know how it goes though... telling myself "i'll start tomorrow!" for months..ok, years..... wanting to start but you want to lose all the weight in a flash & its so hard to see the weight dropping slowly... you can tell yourself for months & months that you will start tomorrow to find yourself in May you are still telling yourself that or you can start now and come May you will be so much happier about yourself. I say May because that is when kids get out of school (right? I don't have children...) & them comes the possible vacations... I am just kicking myself for letting me get as fat as I did & not starting sooner... but better late than never! ahhhhhh I can't wait to fit into size 16... US size 16 & then down to UK size 16. edited by Abaddon on 12/01/2011 Well done!!! 50lbs is amazing! Don't give up! I am just like you - it's always tomorrow, after next week as we have guests or always after this weekend as we have dinner. No more excuses now.

It would be great if there was a group for us to encourage each other. Some type of meetings. I know we can't arrange meet ups on here but maybe EW can have something

For those ladies who want to lose weight but can't find the motiviation - start with very small targets, something relevant to yourself, even if it is just eat one less chocolate biscuit and walk to the bin with the rubbish. It is much easier to meet small targets regularly than try to aim too high and fail. As you meet your targets you can change and increase them as fits your needs and requirements. Remember that losing weight is not an overnight sensation, it takes time and if done properly it becomes easy to live a much healthier lifestyle. Go for it. We are here to support you. :)

I belong in the category who could always stand to lose those 5 extra kilos. I never got to my prepregnancy weight after having DD - gained a whopping 25kg with her - but very close though, ended up being just 3 kg more than before I got pregnant so was pretty happy about that. But boy did my body change!!! I am now couple of weeks shy of giving birth to our second baby. On the issue of thin and gorgeous women - I actually find women in Dubai pretty good looking, they take better care of themselves than back in my home country and are far more feminine and sexy. you see lots of good looking slim ladies. And lots of women are slim by nature and some work at it. But there is nothing wrong with that. I too try to work at it but I am just never going to have the body I used to because 1. while I work at it, I clearly do not work hard it enough and 2. I have many things to occupy me and thus try to find a golden middle way and 3. like sweet things a bit too much. I have friends who are slim and gorgeous and believe me they do eat. But they also do not eat junk but lots of healthy food. And not all gorgeous women are necessarily thin. Here you see women of so many shapes and sizes, and you realise beauty does come in many different packages. After having this baby, I definitely do not want to let go but get back in shape. It makes me happy. At the end of the day, what woman does not want to look good and be appreciated for it.

I don't see many thin, gorgeous women, maybe you should hang around in MOE more, that might make you feel better! I see many women with 'money' who look groomed, but if we were all this minted anyone could look amazing.

The other men here just don't seem to make the effort, there is def not much in the way of eye candy here for us ladies. I am also way over my correct weight, but its time to put things right, I'm tired of the real me hiding inside, she was out there once, before I moved to Dubai, moving here I lost her, its time I found her again. Oh and just so you know the perfect me, the me I am happy with, is a size 16, the current me is much much bigger than that!

I want to cry every time I look in the mirror at what I have become. I rarely ever wear makeup and do my hair nowadays. I was back home recently and even my sister made a sarcastic joke about how my DH must think I'm a fox. I'm too lazy to make any changes. :(

OP I know exactly how you feel as i've gone from a size 12 to a 16 since moving here and I still keep all my size 12 clothes in the hope of fitting back into them one day! DH also used my weight against me in an argument once as he know it's my biggest insecurity - it's really not on but I guess I am guilty of using his weakness against him when we argue too. When I was at a really low point I did what other posters have suggested, looked after myself, got my hair done, nails done, went out with my friends 2 nights a week, had a girlie holiday and just started to make myself happy and it has really worked at improving my relationship. Getting out is so important even if you don't feel like it. Like others have said if you buy some well cut size 16 clothes you can look fabulous! As for the weight I have started to eat healthily most of the time and going to the gym a few times a week. I just hope I can keep it up.

I was a UK size 10 two years ago, but only got to that through depression and literally eating a piece of toast a day (not purposely - I just forgot to eat all the time). Obviously not healthy nor sustainable. I did begin cycling back in May and lost about 7kgs in 2 months, but then had surgery and didn't get back into it. I think I might try to find a personal shopper - I still look at clothes which would have suited me when I was a 10, and obviously now I'm a 16 they look awful so think I need an overhaul in how to shop. Thanks all for the sympathy/laughs :) i could help you pick out a new wardrobe, im great with fashion. i will do it for free

mmm.... i think most of us eat to the max where you feel really bloated and totally fulled-up. i eat what i want and practically anything. but i eat in moderation. stop when i feel i eat enuff. and no deserts for me because i never liked hvg deserts; not because of fattening ideas. i eat lots of rice ,everyday! for all this said and done, genetic also plays a part though. so don't feel bad. enjoy your curves, not obese! just get the right clothes, style and well cut outfit. keep face fresh and neat with a dash of gloss and eyeliner. neat hair. tied hair up if got no time to DIY blow-dry. Find a comfy, simple classic flat shoes. it will go with your everyday jeans/outfit. keeping a pack of face wipes in handbag is fab idea. when you been running errands etc. just need that freshen up, perk up. give it a try. you'll be surprised. sometime, we spend way too much time processing what goes into the baby bag and forgetting ours. good luck! edited by tipahtertipu on 12/01/2011 edited by tipahtertipu on 12/01/2011

I do think alot of us have put weight on here, and so hard to shift, maybe im not trying hard enough. Dont beat yourself up, beauty is skin deep, and yes I am over weight, ok Im not really comfortable in my own skin, hubby loves me just the way I am. I have lost weight before and its so hard to keep off. Life is far to short. I would give my hubby a good smack across the chops If he ever mentioned another female colleague being more funny, slimmer etc,
