Same mood here, cellulitis laughing at me in the mirror... how depressing. Know this GORGEOUS woman with 3 kids (!!!) and she still looks like a MODEL (AND is nice too!AND is over 40!) but she admits how hard she works on her figure, one hour gym with Personal Trainer DAILY and then all this healthy eating palaver...mmmm just can't do it, love food too much, no dosh for a personal trainer and no time next to job & kids to do all this exercise!:(

i dont know any thin women who dont work at it. and depending on your body type, some work much harder than others at it. but its work all the same. you just have to decide what is more important to you, like, an extra hour of greys anatomy on the couch or an extra inch on your a s s. personally i go for greys every time. its all about priorities.......lol

A personal shopper is a great idea. Debenhams has that service and they are having A 50% off sale at the moment. You could get one or 2 items and some general ideas on what suits you. The Julien Mc Donald range at Deb is very flattering for curvy figures. It's great you lost so much weight by cycling - so you know you can do it when you put your mind to it. Maybe you can start taking a walk every day while the weather is nice as that's not too strenuous.

I was a UK size 10 two years ago, but only got to that through depression and literally eating a piece of toast a day (not purposely - I just forgot to eat all the time). Obviously not healthy nor sustainable. I did begin cycling back in May and lost about 7kgs in 2 months, but then had surgery and didn't get back into it. I think I might try to find a personal shopper - I still look at clothes which would have suited me when I was a 10, and obviously now I'm a 16 they look awful so think I need an overhaul in how to shop. Thanks all for the sympathy/laughs :) You can look fab if you are a 16 !!!!! Just learn not to dress as if you were a size 10 - it is different and it doesn t have to be baggy Lots of ladies would love to be a size 16 !;)

I was very thin at one stage and basically was eating very little so all these skinny people eat next to nothing. I used to never have butter or eat a cake when I was having coffee etc I've put on a few kgs now and I'd like to lose it as all my clothes are so tight or don't fit at all but I dread the thought of going back to not being able to eat what I want! It's doubly hard cos I've a very sweet tooth and could live on chocolate. The only real advantage of being thin was not having to worry so much about what to wear as now I'm constatnly trying to hide my big thighs or bulging tummy (zip on my trousers was slipping down today so had to wear a long top). Sue B is right though and just make the best of how you are now. You see some ladies who are not rake thin but are still well groomed with their hair well cut and blow dried, some nice make up and good clothes. If you want to make a change try doing some of these things and you'll feel a lot better but make sure you do it for you. edited by A Rancher on 11/01/2011

That's the thing though, I'm younger than a lot of them! Lol - DH is gorgeous, but no he's not on top form 24/7, good point. I will make an effort to go shopping this weekend. Will just plug the iPod in and try not to obsess too much about everyone else (always feel like people are looking/laughing at me...gosh that sounds mental). Need a haircut too, good idea! :)

Large people can be beautiful too. Dress yourself in track pants or cotton elasticated pants, old T shirt and yes you will feel fat, ugly and unwanted. Get up in the morning, dress in something you love, put on some makeup and perfume ( even if you dont plan on leaving the house for the day) and then look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself I LOVE ME. I have just lost 5 kg I put on when I moved here 1 1/2 years ago. Im not big, under 60kg BUT yes I feel fat at times and I really didnt like who I saw in the mirror. I didnt go on a diet but I stoped the cookie snacks, started cooking lower fat foods and started taking more care of myself. I feel soooo much better about myself now because I am heading in the direction I want to go. It takes effort, ut just the start of getting a haircut, going to the mall and having a makeup face over does wonders for your self confidence. remember, those girls at the beaches were us 20 years ago... we've just matured and they're all airheads anyway! I bet they cant cook a three course meal, finish a work phone call, bath the baby, and fold the laundry ALL at the same Time so really, they aint got nothing on us girl!!~

To be fair it was in the heat of a row, but he said basically that she's more fun, nicer etc. He said it in anger but it's made me lose any shred of security I had! It wasn't about her particularly, think he's just had enough of me moping around and being insecure all the time. LOL at the pampas grass - I'm not quite there yet!! :) I just do genuinely wonder how people maintain figures like that though...maybe I need to be resigned to spending half my life in the gym. *Sigh* And is your husband a perfect-bodied, glossy-haired Adonis who is perennially cheerful, positive and secure??? Is he 24/7 the nicest, most fun, most rugged person in the entire world ever? If not, sounds as if there's something of a double standard! Don't beat yourself up.

that was a rotten thing for him to say to you. there are lines that should not be crossed and that is definetly one of them!!!!! So, what to do. Well, stop mopping and feeling sorry for yourself. Get out of the house, meet friends for dinner without him, make sure your hygiene is up to par, that you look nice for YOURSELF NOT HIM, go buy something wicked for you and get out there and live your life... I was just at the Mirdif Mall. Let me tell you, I saw way more normal people that tall skinny perfectly coiffed females, but, then I was not looking because I am who I am, I take care, am short, overweight at the moment and know I will nev er be tall and skinny so why worry about it lol...but I can be the best I can be and proud of myself for making an effort for me and no one else :)....SO, let him wonder what you are up to and you can tell him *sweetie, I am just living my life*!!!!

I met a lady last year who had recently divorced her DH and lost some enormous amount of weight (like 35 kg) and her DH was now eating mud pie, it gave her the strength to turn her life around, ironic really. GA find the strength and pull yourself togther and deal with the weight.

Doesn't help that DH works in an industry filled with these women - he told me one in particular is nicer than me recently :( Ugh I'm becoming a jealous, bitter person - need to get a grip but can't quite get over that longing to be better if that makes sense! Sorry, having an off day :) Nicer than you in what way? *silently seething on your behalf* I was about to say....what a complete AR$E...rap him round the ears please before I have to pack my wide load in the car and come round to yours and do it myself.

He married YOU, right? Try to remember what he loved about you when you first met. Chances are it wasn't your skinny a** or your perfect fitting designer gear. Cultivate those qualities which can easily get lost when tending to kids and house and all the stresses of living abroad. Sense of humor, sense of fun, a bit of care with appearance, good cooking, etc. etc. Failing that, grow some pampas grass...

Maybe we should have coffee sometime and feel better together! I've given up wanting to be thin and gorgeous. My baby tells me I'm pretty and thats all that matters to me.

They are all biatches, so there. AND it's a well known fact that when you starve body of essential fats your brains fall out your ears. True. I keep telling hubby that a man needs a little to hang on to, dimples, a muffin top and a giant ar$e fitting the bill perfectly. He um, however calls the muffin top cake, so theres no 'hanging on' to anything in store for him any time soon!

You don't have to be thin to be gorgeous, and yes quite possibly some of them have hair extension, gel nails, surgery and lots more. Be happy with who you are. Believe it or not they might just have similar insecurities as you. Believe that you are beautiful just the way you are. Go out head held high. In a recent survey, men actually do prefer us girls with a bit of meat on us. Love from an overweight girl x

Nope! You're not alone. I was at the beach on Friday and was thinking the exact same thing, while I tried without success to suck in my spare tyre. Lovely NOT! I personally think it's a mutant strain of skinnyness, sadly lacking in my gene pool ;) The diet starts tomorrow. I promise!!!

Pah! You should stand next to me...I'm lucky if I have time to drag a brush through my hair most days and I am more than a kg or two overweight..ahem! I agree that there are far too many gorgeous slim women wandering around dubai but I just mutter under my breath"eat more lard!" and stuff another doughnut in my gob. I also imagine putting imaac in their mascara and watching their luscious eyelashes falling out. My husband loves me and thats all that matters. Don't be so hard on yourself xx
