Hello, I have just found at that i have a miscarried for 2nd time in a row. I am not sure what to feel or think right now, but thankfully have a healthy daughter that makes it a little easier. I have been scheduled for d&c this coming weekend and than the doc is going to run tests on me and my husband.
Has anyone else been in the same situation? That d&c was seriously daunting for me not for the procedure but because I ended up in a hospital for 20 hrs. I am thinking 20 hrs is a long time for a d&c and than a friend revealed that hers took much less she went to hospital in the morning and was home in the afternoon? How long does it take normally? for 2nd time I do not want to be in a hospital 20 hrs, I am going to tell the doc but shall i make appoint elsewhere and have it done there? It is so difficult to get alternative appointments in dubai at good doctors that I am just not sure. I would be really grateful if anyone can share their experience with me?
thank you.

I'm very sorry for your loss and can't imagine the pain. A friend of mine had this happen and turns out getting pregnant wasn't the problem rather staying pregnant was due to lining of the womb not being thick enough to sustain the pregnancy. With help she went onto concieve and carry a beautifull baby boy. Don't wait, seek fertility treatment and see if they can help you out. Best of luck.

Barboram, So sorry to hear this. I have also had two miscarriages in a row recently. Both times I miscarried without a D&C. The first involved lots of bleeding and the second was a missed miscarriage but i started to miscarry naturally a few days after I found out. I was told the D&C is a very straightforward op with nothing to worry about. I am a wimp when it comes to operations so if I hadn't miscarried naturally I was going to go down the medication route which I am told you can get over here, you just need to take the medication within the hospital. Some people think there's no point doing this as you may not miscarry completely and end up needing a D&C anyway. It's a very personal decision but if you are concerned about a D&C, you could look at this alternative perhaps. I hope it all goes as smoothly as it possibly can for you.

Sorry to hear your news. I have also had two miscarriages in a row. The second time i opted for a D&C. I had the operation at 9am and left hospital at 2pm (this was in the UK though) I am now sat at home with 4 month old DS having thought we would never have a baby. Hope you manage to stay positive and that a happy outcome is around the corner x

Sorry to hear your news Barboram. Like you, I had two miscarriages in a row after having our first daughter. I also did not have a problem getting pregnant and the second miscarriage was only 6 months after the first. They appear to have been for very different reasons. The first was quite late and a total fluke - I caught a simple virus going round and high fever caused my water to break. The second was before 12 weeks and nature's normal way of ending a pregnancy that was likely not meant to be. Neither were indicative of problems for future successful pregnancies; brutal as it is they just happened. 18 months after the first miscarriage, we had our second healthy baby and I am now 21 weeks pregnant with our third so don't lose heart.

i went thru an emergency D&C after miscarrying at 12weeks around 6 months back... did it at Welcare in Garhoud... started bleeding profusely at 5am... rushed in to the hospital when it got unbearable at 7am... doc saw me immediately, assessed that my cervix wasn't dilating so had to do an emergency D&C... went in for surgery at around 10am and (since it was under General Anesthesia) they made me wait till around 5pm till i ate and drank to ensure that i didn't have any adverse reaction to the anesthesia... i know u'd rather be outta there in a hurry but might be a good idea to ensure u dont have any post operative complications... only saying this coz i had an eye surgery at City Hospital under GA and I had severe post operative vomitting and it was so much better to be at the hospital itself coz they could treat the vomitting with an injection via IV... hang in there sweetie... i know how u feel... been so desperately trying to have another baby (already have a 4 yr old DD)... fingers and toes crossed that i miss my periods this month! if it makes u feel any better, i have loads of cousins who had multiple miscarriages followed by many successful deliveries (even twins) after that! :)

sorry for your loss :( i've had many miscarriages in a row ... too many actually. opted for d&c every time. i stayed over night (at city hospital). at midnight the gel was inserted to soften the cervix, the d&c performed at 9am, and i was home by 4pm. not a good experience, but not painful at all. good luck xxx

I only had to wait a day and that was because it was a weekend, I am sure the only reason a hospital insists on you stay overnight is for the $$$$. I was living in West Africa when I miscarried and they also made me stay overnight too, it meant I had to leave my 12 month old son with a helper (my DH was travelling of course) and all they did to me was not feed me!! Stand your ground and say you want to go in first thing in the morning, then you just fast for 12 hours, and do not drink any fluids for I think around 3 hours. I looked up BUPA's pre operation guidelines and they were quite informative. x

I'm sorry for your losses, Barboram. If it's any consolation, when I had mine in Geneva, I was in hospital overnight too. The procedure was scheduled as such.

Thank you so much Cornish, we were lucky with our first one I guess, now the second one is not so easy. I fell pregnant right away each time and each time ended in miscarage. Glad to know that it is done in shorter time. American hospital I heard did the same. Just Medcare I was admitted at night at 10pm and from 5 am went no water and food till 1pm when I was scheduled to go in but because emergency c'sections I had to wait till close to 3. I was so out of it with hunger and thirst it was like torture...plus the procedure. I just dont know if I cant get my way in Medcare do I go to another hospital and wait? Take care and have a wonderful day and thank you for your post.

I had to have a D&C a few months back (not for the same reason as you) and went into City Hospital at 9am, operation scheduled for midday and I left by 5pm. I just took it easy for a few days at home then. Sorry about your miscarriage, I had one between my two kids and I know it is a rough time. Big hugs and take care of yourself. xx
