Hello All!

So after a very delightful 8 months I seem to have hit a huge bump with my 8 month old! She would always sleep latest by 8:00 PM but for the last 4-5 days she just would not go to bed before 11! Tried not letting her sleep after 4 so she gets to sleep earlier...even gave her a nice warm bath...cuddled her...but nothing! She isnt cranky but instead wants to play and I can see shes sooooo sleepy but just wont :( I tried the cry it out method but she just didnt stop and then threw up :(

Please help! I am not used to this so just don't know what to do :(

TIA

Thank you again ladies...she has been sleeping at 8- 8:30 PM...I tried earlier but she just refuses to be put down! Last 2 days she has been waking up around 01:30 wanting to play! Takes about 20-30 mins to get back to sleep then...lets hope this is a temporary thing!! Oh the joy!! TIA

I don't think babies need panadol, they just need routine. I would try not to play with your baby after 6pm. This time should be strictly left for feeding and bathing in a dark, quiet room so baby can settle themselves and wind down before their sleep. Good luck.

Could well be the teething. Our 8.5 month old spent the whole of Xmas not wanting to go to sleep til very late and then would wake up several times at night. By the end of Dec he had 2 teeth and on 3rd Jan his 3rd popped out. Maybe you can try and give her Panadol at sleep time or use Bonjela on the gums.

Thank you for sharing the link kiwispiers...she went to sleep at 8:30 today! yipee! I think it is her teething that is bothering her so much..but I shall keep trying to get her to bed earlier and hopefully the routine would be set again...

If you haven't had sleep problems before, maybe its just an issue with her nap times needing a change. She might be getting too much daytime sleep, or even not enough sleep (for us earlier bedtimes meant a longer stretch at night so at that age DS was in bed by 6:30 or even 6pm, any later and he would get overtired and hyped up.) If a change in routine doesn't help, and you are sure its not that she is unwell, or going through a tough time emotionally then there are lots of alternatives to CIO, here is a link; http://www.parentingscience.com/infant-sleep-training.html
