Hello Ladies, This might be a really stupid question. How to dress your newborn baby? as a FTM i'm so confused about the clothes to buy for him and with all these shops selling so many cute stuff has just increased my confusion! I've gone shopping twice only to buy clothes and have come back empty handed as I was unable to decide what all I would need. First of all, there are onesies (the ones that snap at the crotch) What exactly are these for? I understand the plain white ones can be worn as vests but what about the cute colorful design ones? Will I really need these? If i just keep him in a onesie the legs are exposed and aren't newborn's need to be kept warm all the time? I know the weather is scorchingly hot but the AC (usually set at 20-21 deg at my home) will make him cold. I love the colorful onesies, how do I use them? Secondly, is it important to layer? in which case i'm thinking going for the plain white onesies and then a bodysuit/ sleeper on top. Is this ok? Experienced mommies please help me.. Xx not at all stupid question...everybody faces this :) With my first i did dressed him up in closed feet sleeping suits when going out and at night. no other fancy clothes like pants or t shirts in first 3 months. during the day i use to dress him in buttoned t shirts either full sleeves or half along with a nappy or pj. No diapers during the day and if i have to use then reusable cloth diapers. Those onesies do look cute and i am tempted to buy this time but i am not going to because you have to put the baby in pampers all the time ...if going out you can put a cotton jacket and a legging or pant with it. my son use to outgrow those close feet sleeping suits like a bullet train. every month buying few for him. Every baby is different. At my home temperature is usually at 23 and right from birth my boy didn't like to be swaddled or decked in too many clothes. yes in the starting you do need to cover the legs but not much. You will get the hang once your baby arrives. Just touch his tummy and feel the temperature whether hot or cold. trial and error and you will be fine. if you are going to then buy just a few onesies and then once the bay is here you can buy accordingly in what you feel comfortable. Thank you angel joy, I guess i'll just go ahead with the full length body suits to start with coz I hate the idea of layering in this weather. Will the onesies effect the cord stump healing in any way? it all looks so body hugging type also is it fine for me to leave his legs exposed during the day for some time, only with the onesie on? Xx

@ CG9 Will definitely check uppababy. I was leaning towards baby jogger but getting a review from a bugaboo user is better as you already know the ease of bugaboo. I have decided not to sell my bugaboo for another year. as for base its good to have it beforehand. how will you stick it in the car otherwise? its much easier to take out the seat and just click it back again and baby does not wake up if he is sleeping. My son if shifted without car seat used to wake up and would not go back to sleep. Although my husband still wants another maxi cosi but i am looking for convertible options. After looking at some more shops we've decided to take the family fix base and maxi-cosi pebble. It's a rear facing infant car seat. Initially I was thinking of getting the car belt to hold the car seat which is an option if you don't want the base but somehow it did not feel very secure. Will get the delivery of the stroller this week. I can't wait to unpack it!!

CG9 i am a die hard bugaboo fan...absolutely love the ease and maneuvering of the stroller. (bee not chameleon) i am having a hard time this time searching for a good stroller. My 2 year old is still a stroller baby so searching for a tandem stroller as aisles here are mostly narrow is a pain in the ... all are so bulky and difficult to take apart for travelling! and i dont like phil and teds its second seat being so close to ground! Anyone going for a convertible car seat and which one? I would like to invest once this time for atleast 4 years. I completely understand Angel Joy. I was so stuck to bugaboo I can't tell you but yes that was until I saw the uppababy vista. I love the practicality of the vista, first of all lot more options at half the price. The bassinet can be used as a primary bed until the baby outgrows it. This was very important to us and you can also buy a stand for the bassinet to rest. Secondly you can add a rumble seat for the older baby and still use the bassinet for the new born so it converts into a double stroller and it has a huge undercarriage. The reviews say it's too bulky and huge but for us it did not make a world of difference as we were looking at bugaboo buffalo. The weight of both is almost the same and Vista is a 1 fold stroller if course after the bassinet phase. Vista also comes with maxi-cosi car seat adapters so that's a bonus, need not spend separately for adapters. We are yet to pick up the car seat but have decide to go for the maxi-cosi infant car seat and isofix family base and then change it after he outgrows it. I wanted to know is the isofix base really necessary at this point? I'm Not able to make up my mind! Xx edited by CG9 on 28/05/2014

Hello to you all Hello CG9 13 weeks for me and have started looking forward to it. I am having a scan on Sunday to see if my placenta has moved up, since at 20th week it was very low. And also to get my flight permit as I'm going back home for 2 weeks for summer holidays!!! So excited!!! I have started doing a bit of shopping as I desided not to transfer everything from home (I have everything from my sisters) and buy new ones from here. Have bought a crip so far and am looking at strollers. All of my mother friends tell me to buy something that is very simple and very light as there is no point in investing a lot of money on a stroller because I'll not use it a lot. But it is very hard to explain to them that things here are completely different from back home as far as stroller usage is concerned. Back home it is not easy at all to go out with a stroller and enjoy the walk with your baby as cars are parked on pavements and there is no space for the stroller. So noone uses strollers more than once a month!!!! Here you can go everywhere and you use it a lot. I agree with the very light part, especially since I'm quite petite but the very simple part is a bit tricky. I have seen a few strollers at centerpoint (big sales in all baby items till the 6th of June) and I'll most propably go with a Graco one.

Hello August Mommies... We've been a quite bunch! How are you all doing? 11 weeks to go for me... Went for an antenatal class and must say really did enjoy it. My baby boy is super active. I have been scheduled for a Doppler scan in 2 weeks just to make sure he is ok and to check on the kidney dilatation..can't wait to see him. Had my routine appt last week and he was in breech position so could not get a good view. Anyone started shopping? We booked a Uppababy Vista stroller and the delivery is in June as they did not have the color we wanted. We went to buy a bugaboo but were totally blown away by the vista. Hope it stands to what it says! Any one else has experience with the vista? edited by CG9 on 25/05/2014

Hello Angel Joy Hello everyone I'm in my 23rd week and my body hurts!!! My back hurts, my left side is killing me, some days i cannot walk because my left hip hurts!!! I'm a wreck!!!!hahaha Plus I have heartburn and nausea all day long and I cannot sleep at night!!! Last night I used 5 pillows and managed to get some sleep...at last. But on the other side, my baby girl is kicking like crazy and I'm so happy! I hope all the rest are better than I am xxx My baby girl is on the right side since starting and hasnt changed her position so lying down on my right side i start feeling suffocated after few minutes and lying down on left side all the time has started various aches and pains :) I mostly sleep on the recliner as pillows doesnt help at all. that is the only place i get sleep at all and its still a long way to go... I jinxed myself by saying few days back that my nausea is better in this pregnancy as compared to first. During first pregnancy i had nausea for full 9 months and this time it subsided and went completley away after 4 month but from past 4 days it has returned back. I don't like eating anything in dinner apart from water melon or melon. I can totally understand what you are saying!!! It is exactly the same with me. Baby Girl on the right side from the beginning and painful aches on the left side. As far as nausea, everything stopped for about a month around 5th month and has come back along with heartburns. I hope we feel better sometime soon!!!! xxx

Guys, Just wanted an opinion from you all. I am in my 8th Week now. We are planning to travel to Qatar in 2 days. The trip was planned before we got to know I'm pregnant. Do you think it is safe to travel ? I have read many articles which says it is safe to travel unless you are tagged high risk. We havent done the initial scan yet. Just confirmed through hcg beta and blood test taht I'm pregnant. Please let me know ur thoughts :) I agree with Angel Joy. I travelled back home at 7 weeks and there was no problem. I would advise you to see a doctor first and to have your first scan. You usually have your first scan at around 6th week. In any case have fun at your trip..

I travelled to India in early pregnancy and i didn't realized at the time that i am pregnant. And i am soon to make a trip to US which is a very long flight but you need the go ahead from your doc.

Hi everyone, seems our group is active again! Welcome AndyPandy1! Did exactly the same, bought a cot and mattress from Dubizzle, both from good brands and properly maintained. I think when the mattress is stainless and you wash it yourself as well it should be fine.. I don't have experience with Cecil for antenatal classes. I signed up for the Healthbay classes as I heard good stories about it. Angel joy and NP feel sorry for you that you don't feel well and don't sleep well, hope it will soon get better. I am doing perfectly fine I have to admit and a baby kicking like crazy as well! Although I want to start to do some cardio training as I feel more tired lately, anyone any advice what to do? X

Hello August mummies... I have been reading your posts now for some time and thought I should get involved. I'm due Aug 14th with my first little one!! Hope everyone is doing well and your little ones are healthy and happy. Starting the first of our shopping/spending yesterday and wow how easy is it to go overboard. Managed to get a great Mamas and Papas cot from Dubizzle as it was the one I wanted but they have stopped making them. What are your views on secondhand mattresses. This particular one has a zip off cover which I will wash and is a year and a half old also from M&P's and came spotless? Also does anyone know anything about Cecile de Scally for antenatal classes?

Hello Girls. My scan was very good. The doctor did not find anything that might be wrong, so I feel very happy!!! Still a bit sick but not that bad as 4 days ago. It is the 10th day now though so I hope it does not last many more days. I'm very happy that your doctor is reassuring you and still keeping my fingers crossed till you have a 100% positive test/scan. FYI: I just got messages from two friend of mine here in Dubai, saying that they received an e-mail at work saying that there is a really bad virus in Dubai adn to avoid public places. Have no idea what this is exactly but better to be careful xxx

Hello to everyone!! I hope you are all doing fine. We've been pretty quiet!! My sister with her 6 y.o. son was visiting last week and we were always outside doing things so I'm absolutely exhausted now!!! Need to rest!!!! Has anyone started feeling the baby? I am 19 weeks now but can't say I feel any movement. I can tell if she on the left of the right side of my belly most of the time but no movement yet. It's my first pregnancy so everyone is telling me that I just do not understand it, but I really want to feel her! What about bumps? I feel huge at the moment and I still have a long road ahead...My bump is pretty big already so I guess I'll have a huge bump by the end of August, just like my sisters and my mother!! CG9_how are you? xxx edited by NP on 07/04/2014 Hi NP, I'm doing good. Keeping my fingers crossed for the bubs. My domestic help has gone on vacation for a month so been busy and tired! I know its not an ideal time but if i'd not sent her now she would have gone in Aug which would have made it impossible for me to manage esp with the baby around. I started feeling the flutters around 19/20wk and must say it's the best experience ever. He's is in breech position so i'm feeling the kicks way down, i hope he changes his position soon!

CG9 - I hope that everything turns out fine. I can totally understand you being worried but as my midwife had told me -remember when I had my NT problem- try to stay positive and do not worry as it is not good for the baby. I'm sure in the end everything will turn out just fine!!!! xxx Thanks NP, I know worrying does not help as there is nothing I can do to make it alright. It's just a waiting game till my nxt scan Hope you are doing well!
