Close to giving up on BF.... In urgent need of a pep talk from nursing mums!
I am so tired of this. My baby is 6 months old, so far wonderfully and exclusively breast fed with no major problems. BUT I haven't had a good night's sleep for so so long! She is still not sleeping through the nights. Please help me, tell me what am I doing wrong. I am so tempted to introduce formula for night feeding cos I've heard that makes the baby sleep for longer without going hungry. She feeds on demand, now started solids, very slowly, she is just taking a teaspoon or two of some puree every day around noon.
We have a lovely bedtime routine and have the bath to breast to bed routine and she is asleep by 7pm. By around 11-12 in the night, I come to bed and before sleeping give her a dream feed. Mostly she starts stirring herself and I oblige. And then after that it is 2-3 hour cycle of feeding through out the night till 7 am when she wakes up. If she wakes up during the night I do try to calm her down with her pacifier. She has a little blankie with my smell that she likes to cuddle with. But all of that doesn't help. She wants milk. Even worse is that we are unable to do the sideways lying feeding position. Any time that I try that, I get a better night, cos both of us drift off while nursing but then the next day I have terrible soreness cos of bad latch.
So I am now thinking that now that the crucial 6 months period is over, maybe introducing formula will be okay. Afterall so many babies do drink it and have no problems. I know I will just feel so guilty about starting it just for my own comfort, especially if she falls ill or something after this. What do I do!!
