Flying to the UK (Aberdeen). Day or night? Also through Heathrow or Amsterdam? I'm looking for the easiest option with a wee one please?

Night flight. When my baby was that age, he didn't even wake up. Now that he is 20months old I prefer daylights.

night flights if you baby is a good sleeper already. If they are not a good sleeper then do day time. Enjoy!

i flew 16 hours with my 3 1/2 month old non stop and she was amazing, i think you shouldn't worry i was worried too before the flight, but once i did it, i found she was just a doll, LOL the older she gets the harder i bet it will be. we took off in the after noon though, flew through many time zones and landed in dubai at night. i even think she recovered better than me and my mother. good luck!

night flight, your baby will sleep a lot either way with the noise of the plane and will then be better able to adjust at the other end. Make sure you request a bassinet seat, but don't expect to get any sleep yourself as anytime there is turbulence you have to yoink baby back on to your lap. If you are breastfeeding then just feed your baby everytime they wake and they will go straight back to sleep. prob not the vaccinations to blame for the regression if it happened right on cue at 4 months, its a brain thing.

Night flight all the time. I had to go through T5 at Heathrow without a buggy as the stewards on BA put it into the hold and told me I would get it back in Aberdeen. It was the worst experience. I was on my own with DD. Did KLM through Amsterdam this year and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Was told at check-in that I could drop my pram off outside the plane in DXB and it would be waiting for me at the other end. Very easy.

Isn't it funny how different we all are. I'm a day, day , day flight girl to Europe. Then i'm not stressed if the kids were to cry and keep anyone awake. Also, it means that i don't lose out on any sleep myself. But then to Europe i fly economy. If you've got a bed it's different you can just lie down with the baby next you, attached by the baby seat belt and sleep. (If you have no other kids with you?).

Definately night flight! We did DXB - Auckland with our 4 month old and the flight down was very unsettled. Cried, squeeled, screamed for nearly 10 hours. Flight back was a night flight and he slept the whole way.

Thanks natashab, She still gets up once a night, but maybe by the time we are flying she will have cracked the through the night thing again (i say again, she was sleeping through until those blasted vaccinations).

Night night night night!!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, it's soooooo much easier. Less stimulation and more chance of them settling. I've done many many many and would choose a 3am "night flight" over a more civilized departure time any day of the week!!!

Hi emmaH Is your baby in any sort of routine in terms of sleeping in the night? I found flying at night easier because my son just sleeps during the flight whereas during the day he needs more entertainment as he is up anyway. I first flew with him when he was about 5months and he was great in the flight but a bit grumpy when we were waiting for our baggage. Good luck
