Perkynana, how long is your DD awake time? Bang on 4 months i switched to the 4hr EASY routine and DS sleeps like a log during the day, perhaps try that?

Mine was similar at that age, as he got older we dropped naps and they somehow got longer without my intervention, so he went from 4x 45 minute naps to 2 90 minute naps and then to one 3-4 hour nap. Don't worry about matching a book or your friend's babies, happy baby equals happy mummy.

I had quite a few problems with my first child. As your child, he was sleeping trough the night since 6 weeks old but wouldn't sleep much during the day. Besides, at the age of 3-month he started being very picky with food. I was very worried he was getting enough sleep, enough food....the answer of my paediatrician remained always the same: "if your child isn't crying, isn't sleeping all the time, is energetic and looks happy. He is all fine. Nothing to worry". My child is 2 years old now and all fine! This said, I would recommend you visit your own paediatrician and ask his feedback if you are worried.

Hi everyone Just need to check if things are normal or if I should be worried. DD is 4 months and sleeps 11 hours every night solid (and has done for about 1.5 months). This is brilliant but she probably only gets a total of 2-3 hours during the day across 3-4 naps. I have tried all sorts of things to encourage her to sleep longer (follow the EASY method and Cecile's advice) and when she was 3 months they worked now she is a bit older she is not keen at all. She is generally a happy wee thing, always smiling and I am relaxed to have her up with us but was just wondering if she is getting enough sleep. It just seems like she thinks she will miss out if she goes to sleep - when I try to put her down and she isn't ready she kicks up a right stink (only daytime sleeps not nighttime). If she is ready I can pop her in her bed; let her talk to herself and she drops off in no time. Look forward to your advice on how to get her to settle better and if she is getting enough sleep.
