Morning ladies...just got my period :( i had had 3 months of clomid and this month i tried gonal f injections/trigger and cyclogest with IUI. Not sure what to do now? The clinic says i can try again this month - but to be honest i feel pretty gross - bloated, gained weight, exhausted etc not sure whether to take a break - or just keep at it. Would like to get healthy but i also dont want to waste time - any ideas? suggestions anyone?

Hi Melinda So sorry you’ve been unlucky this time. I had 4 IVF cycles over 4 years before I was lucky enough to have my twins. I personally wanted to take a break after each failure to heal both mentally and physically, however that’s not necessarily right for everyone and some people prefer to get straight back in the saddle (or should that be stirrups?!). It’s really a case of whether you yourself feel ready to get on to the next attempt or not. Infertility is a horrible, horrible disease and any level of assisted reproductive treatment is painful, emotional, expensive and generally soul-destroying…but ultimately worth it in the end. What helped me was to view each failure as getting one step closer to the goal of having a child – we had a roadmap of how many cycles of different interventions we were willing to do before drawing a line under it and moving on to adoption (not that adoption should ever be construed as a ‘second best’ – we had done a LOT of research and a LOT of soul searching and decided that it was the route for us but it isn’t for everyone). I also found some great infertility websites, support groups and blogs which were invaluable in providing information and support. A couple of blogs that I still love are www.alittlepregnant.com and www.tertia.org I really wish you every success with your journey and hope that you find the strength to see you through it. I’m happy to chat if you want to talk to someone who’s been there.
