Does anyone have a Quinny Zapp?

We're in the UK for the summer and the lightweight umbrella stroller we brought with us - I think it's a Mothercare Jive - is soon to be destroyed by sledgehammer for being the world's most irritating stroller.

I thought of a Quinny Zapp to replace it but my sister thinks the handles are quite low and that's one of the main things I struggle with on the Jive. Does anyone have any experience of them?

And if the Zapp's a no go, any other suggestions? I don't want to spend too much. Thanks :).

5.3kg. But thanks for thinking of me! I plan to get the Pear upgrade for the iCandy and see how we get on with the container-ship manoeuvring, and if it's just too heavy then swap it for a P&T. I don't want to buy anything double until just before we leave to come home though - just in case. Honestly, save yourself the cost of that upgrade straight away and you'll have 2/3 of the cost of a new P&T! I just found it horrid - even DH found it difficult and it's so impractical in cars or planes - comes apart into 4 parts and will take up most of your boot. Plus, when fully up (but without kids) it really is about 18-20kg - they're clever on the site because they have every element's weight marked separately and so you go "oo, 11kg for the chassis? That's pretty reasonable"... but then have to add on 1-2kg for the adaptor, 4kg for each seat... more for the car-seat... I loved my Apple, but the Pear was a completely different beast.

...what about a Phil and Ted's Smart? Check the weight of this pram. From memory you are pregnant and there is no way that I want you lifting my P & T Explorer out of the car! Would you be better off saving the money and putting it towards a double buggy? Sorry to be nosy:)

It is, but I was looking for the Techno on eBay and even used ones go for around GBP100ish, if not more :(. And the Koochi is currently out of stock at Argos, and a hundred quid in stock elsewhere. I have a raincover that will fit and I also have a Bugaboo Gecko to sell on eBay that my sister got me to keep at home, as we realised it wouldn't fit in the boot of the car I use when we're here! So I won't be too much out of pocket. Well, that's the argument I'll be using when DH gets the credit card bill, anyway! The iCandy stayed at home this time after BA kindly bashed the last one up. Oh, how I've missed it, though! Schlepping round town with that stupid little Jive has been painful. Funny how buggies can become addictive :D. I think my sister has had at least seven or eight and she's on her third baby.

Thanks - it's a winner! hehe - but, in fairness DC, it's a lot of money for a holiday nip-around, once you add in rain-cover and/or UV cover etc... and you have your lovely icandy tucked away as your high-end vehicle.

Where did you find it at 139? [url=http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&q=phil+and+teds+smart&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1280&bih=653&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=4316549908110230319&sa=X&ei=i-AhTv3VEpGZhQe87omvAw&sqi=2&ved=0CHIQ8wIwAQ#scoring=tps'>link[/url'>... just sort by total price. actually, I've just clicked through to the one that's coming in at 139 and it's higher on the actual website... next best is 149.99 which seems to be legit. Nice bit of kit - and you can get the UV cover for it! Also saw (on the not-as-bargainous-as-google-thinks site) that they do a car-seat adaptor and all kids for it! Oooooo... buggy!

I just found one - well, two - for GBP129.99 each on eBay, brand new from Belfast. Is that too good to be true? I'm a bit wary as I can't understand why it's not been snapped up!

...what about a Phil and Ted's Smart? Well, virtually anything Phil&Teds produces has my vote, but it's hardly cheap - £139 is the best price the Intarwebz has to offer and even Kiddicare has it at £174!

My sister suggested a Maclaren but couldn't remember the name - I bet it's a Techno! The tipping thing sounds like it might be an issue as I'm forever loading the back of the pram up. I'll take a look at the Koochi now :D.

I once borrowed a Zapp and it was quite nippy but had the slight disadvantage of tipping over as soon as you put a carrier bag on the handles... and it has no storage! edited by Hello.Again.Kitty on 16/07/2011 I loved mine, but she's right. DD took a dive a few times when I loaded it up too much - she thought it was pretty cool, but I felt like a bad parent. Buying the little bin underneath helped, but didn't cure it. It also didn't wear too well, I've had mine 2 years now and the foot area is pulled out. That said, the reason I loved it was it was so compact, really small to store and super easy to pop open. I'll be watching to see if there are better options.

I have the Techno XT which is excellent -got great wheels and really sturdy and almost reclines flat. I also have the Maclaren Quest which I bought 2nd hand for travelling, which is pretty much the same and a bit lighter. Wheels are a bit smaller, very lightweight and has a comfortable recline. My sisters has used this for 4 years and its still works great. Both are great strollers in my opinion and I am sure you'll be able to get them much cheaper in UK. If I am not mistaken the Quest is around Dhs800 and the techno is Dhs 1100 in Dubai (Full price, not on sale) in case you would like to make a comparison. The other 2 mac models volo and triumph have lesser features, but triumph could be still considered. Btw I was considering the Mothercare Jive --and bought the quest eventually as it is the same weight and has excellent reviews. HTH

I got a Koochi from Argos - £70, I think at the time, so they may do a cheaper one now. If you get their catalogue, it'll tell you the handlebar height and every other detail for each buggy in handy table format. Tell you what - pg 1562-63 in the current Argos catalogue. One at £49.99 at 105.3cm handlebar height (Mamu Jump) or the current Koochi is at £99.99, but includes stroller carry bag (two thumbs up?!) and change bag... and has a handlebar height of 108cm!
