Extreme fatigue - should I sleep as much as I want?

I am 9 weeks pregnant working full time. By 9.30 pm I am so tired that I can barely read a book. Alarm clock is at 7 am every morning and I finish at 6 pm so I don't have the change to go for a nap after lunch. My husband tells me that I am tired because I sleep to much so I should try to sleep less and then I will be less tired. However I think pregnancy works different and if my body asks for more sleeping hours I should get them. What do you think? Any advise?

Absolutely you should sleep as much as you want. It's exhausting bring pregnant esp in first trimester. Your body is going through massive changes and that little baby is zapping every ounce of your energy. I worked full time roughly for the same hours as you whilst pregnant both times and I was lucky if i was able to stay up past 8pm in first trimester. I'd hardly say you are sleeping too much!! If you were lying in bed most of the day and all night maybe!! But 9.30 is good going. I could barely function at some points during the day to the point that when people talked to me I could hear the words but couldn't really process them to have a normal conversation. Your tired because you're pregnant not because you sleep too much. I'd get in as much sleep as you can when you can because before long you might find it increasingly harder to sleep what with constant nightly loo trips and generally feeling uncomfortable, although that exhausted feeling should ease. Listen to your body not your DH on this occasion!! I'd love to see how men would cope with pregnancy I really would!!

I barely saw past 8.30pm with my first child in the first trimester, working full-time. It was like jet lag. Do not fight it! Congratulations!

when your husband is growing another human being then he can decide how much sleep he needs, until then I'd ignore him and goto bed. congratulations! Relax, enjoy your sleeping hours and tell your hubby to go pet a monkey.

sleep as much as you can, you are tired because you are growing a baby, afterwards you will be tired because you are feeding a baby all night and trust me, you'll still feel that way at 9:30 pm ;)

I was the same during the first trimester. So tired I would cry. I used to get out of bed in the morning, have breakfast then go back to bed for a few hours (in the weekend when not working) I'd say sleep when your body tells you it's tired, the extreme fatigue doesn't last all your pregnancy and you do get your energy back. But sleep as much as you can now!
