Hi ladies
Thanks for your replies.
I seem to be keeping my numbers down by eating copious amounts of cheese and almonds! Breakfast is still a struggle but thankfully I can manage a small amount of carbs with other meals. I see the endocrinologist on Wednesday and hope that he doesn't feel the need for meds as some of my numbers have been over by 2 or 3. Also I am losing weight (baby isn't. Still 3 measuring 3 weeks bigger) which is not a good thing as I am small to begin with. I have managed to introduce full fat dairy, mainly in the form of cheese and my daily treat of strawberries and double cream, which hasn't affected my numbers. Hopefully this will stop/slow the weightloss.
This is my 3rd pregnancy and I am scheduled for a csection at 38weeks. I was borderline with my previous 2 pregnancies and didn't have to manage my diet. Both babies were born at 38 weeks weighing 3.9 and 3.96kg.
I hope you pregnancy is going well Gilly3. I think we are due around the same time.
My first 2pregnancies were a breeze compared to this one. I think we are in for a mischievous little monkey this time around! Lol

Hi Shella,
I found out the same a couple of weeks ago but have managed not to have any high readings by controlling my diet which is a relief! I also had GD in my last pregnancy so wasn't surprised really.
If you like carbs in the morning have you thought about Pumpernickel or low GI bread, I've found if I have either of them with eggs or Weetabix with skimmed milk my readings are less than 100 but then everyone is different!
The advice I was given was basically avoid fruit juice, root veg & carb combinations, full fat dairy, processed foods, sauces, honey & sugar in general. It's a bit restricting but seems to be working, I hope this helps a little and very best of luck!
Take care of yourself & bump ?
Hi there,
I'm borderline GD so I have to be careful I don't eat too many carbs also.
One of my fave breakfast recipes is kale frittata: I found this one online..: in google type in 'Kale Frittata my kitchen in the Rockies' and it should come up.
You can play around with the recipe by substituting kale for baby spinach, or bacon/salmon instead of salami or cheddar cheese instead of Parmesan.
Something else I like to make is porridge made with pre-cooked quinoa and skim milk (instead of oats).. As quinoa is quite high in protein.. Topped with chia seeds and flaked almonds. :)

Good Morning Ladies.
I was diagnosed with GD 10days ago and thankfully (apart from the occasional high) I a managing it by diet. Carbs at breakfast are a no no as they send by numbers really high. Can anyone recommend some good breakfast ideas. I am becoming really fed up of bacon/sausage/eggs or cheese. Actually, can I recommend some good snacks too! I am determined to stay off the meds if I can but becoming really bored with my food choices, I am 30 weeks pregnant .
Thank you.
