I dont use tinned ones since i believe they are not healthy.I use fully cooked chick peas and whit beans(50-50) together . It makes the hummus smooth and light!

I make hummous a few times a week and there are never any complaints in this house! 1 tin of chickpeas drained 2 cloves of garlic 3 tablespoons of lemon juice 2 tablespoons of olive oil 1/4 cup of tahina Pinch of salt Blend all together and you have yummy hummous in 5 minutes.

I have a Lebanese DH and his tip is to warm up the drained, tinned chickpeas with a little clean water in a dish in the microwave before pureeing. Gives the finished hummos a smooth, silky finish, not cement-like. I have always wondered why mine was never smooth and silky like the one from the charcoal chicken places. Thanks for the tip Apricot!

I personally don't like adding tahini to the hummus so I found this recipe http://www.youtube.com/AllRecipes#p/u/17/udRDRcijJJM and it's the easiest I have made plus DD love it too. HTH
