Wowsmarties, are you sure that all new appointments will go to Dubai Hospital? I had been in Barsha clinic 2 weeks back and they told me I will be in Latifa, but I didn't meet the gynecologist yet so not sure! edited by cafelate on 11/06/2013 Thats what they told me when i registered with Al Mizhar Clinic...and recently read this on their site...The residence area of the applying patient should be within the attachment area of Latifa Hospital, which includes; Bur Dubai, ALBADAA, Jumairah, Safa, Rashidyia, Hatta and Nad Al Shiba, ALBarsha. I live in mirdiff maybe that was the reason...

I did this last year, not sure if the procedure is changed. I didn't have to get a health card. I just took passport copies and visa copies for myself and my husband and a copy of our marriage certificate (no DEWA bills or mortgage agreement needed) and 5000 AED to the clinic in my area - in this case Nad Al Sheba. I called the DHA number on their website to find out which clinic I should go to. They wouldn't take registration until after 16 weeks. The doctor said strictly speaking your appointments are meant to be at Latifa after 20 weeks but she continued to see me until 24 weeks. I never went to Latifa as I also have private OB who I was seeing and who delivered my baby, Latifa was just a back up in case of early delivery as I had complications.

Regarding the registration procedure: First you need to issue a health card either from Latifa hospital, Rashid hospital, Dubai hospital or Albadaa health centre. You will need copy of your passport, visa, Leasing contract, recent Dewa bill and 2 passport photos. Just in case take a copy of your marriage certificate and your copy of your husband passport. Plus 310 AED. According to the area you are living in they will assign you to a health centre. For me it was Albarsha. After completing 16 weeks go to your clinic ( take with you all the previous documents except photos, most properly you will need only Leasing contract and Dewa bill only, but again you never know), you will pay 150Aed and see a GP who will refer you to the gynecologist. They will give you an appointment and tell you to bring yours and your husband passport copy, leasing contract and Dewa bill, marriage certificate and 5000 AED. You will be seeing the gynecologist in the clinic till around 36 weeks then you will be refer to Latifa or Dubai hospital depend on your area of resident. I only met the GP and my first gyna appointment is after 3 weeks but this is what they told me. Best of luck.

So where did you go to register and everything? Was it quite easy/simple,what did you need to give them? Have you registered because you do want to deliver there or because you were advised to? I'm in a bit of a pickle today and stressing myself out so any info would be a massive help!

The DHA clinics are now only tranferring new registration to Dubai hospital...i registered 3 months ago and i wanted Latifa but they said no its the same for expats and locals new policy is the system automatically assigns you to Dubai Hospital...but wen they entered my mobile number it showed i was admitted in latifa 2 years back(i had totally forgotten tat wen they kept asking me if i had any file in latifa) with Urinary Infection and so i got automatically transfered to Latifa...tat was such a huge relief as Latifa is closer for me...but for my foetal anomaly scan i was sent to dubai hospital...my next appointment 26 weeks will be my first appointment in Latifa as i have borderline Gestational Diabetes...all previous appoinments with DHA... edited by wowsmarties on 09/06/2013 edited by wowsmarties on 09/06/2013

Congratulations! Just to add to what aish_dxb said, I didn't need a health card first, I just went to my nearest DHA clinic with passport, husbands passport and marriage certificate and they made my file. The doctor told me she doesn't take registrations until 16 weeks as the 5000 is non refundable, even in the event of miscarriage.

Hi H1983 I have just registered myself at Latifa.. though I am yet to meet my doctor there... You need to take first take yourself a healthcard and register with the Dubai Health Authority. You need to visit the nearest Dubai Health Authority clinic and book for their antenatal package which is AED 5000.00. Then your appointment will be scheduled with a doctor at the clinic. You may continue to see the doctor at the clinic and your file will be there. But you will be moved to Latifa for the appointments during the last month. But the doctor at the clinic can refer you to LAtifa anytime if she thinks you are high risk case. Latifa do not take first time appointments directly, they will ask you to go to DHA clinic in your area for the initial visit. Also, I would advice you to check with the local DHA clinic that they are giving you a package at LAtifa itself as I have heard that it depends on which area you are staying. But not very sure about this information. I hope he info was helpful. Let me know :) Take care

Hi H1983 A huge congratulations on your pregnancy. As you say, Latifa will only accept you as a patient if you have registered with them. You have to buy a "package" and your appointments will be at your local clinic until nearer the end when they will refer you to Latifa. You have to pay for the package at Latifa. Baby brain means I no longer remember the exact process but Latifa was previously known as Al Wasl Hospital so if you do a search on that here you will get lots of information. If I recall correctly you first have to go and get a health card from Latifa and then register for their ante natal package. You will need your passport and visa copies, tenancy contract and latest Dewa bill for your health card. As far as costs go, I don't think there's much difference now between Latifa and the private hospitals for the package and delivery but the incidentals at a private hospital and NICU are more expensive. Hope this helps a little, good luck with everything!
