I have been suffering morning sickness but it is getting worse, to the point where I'm on day 3 of not being able to keep food down but can keep water down. When would you feel it necessary to see a doctor? Or is there not a great deal they can do about it and just let it pass? Im not big on taking meds when pregnant but if there is a risk to the baby from not keeping any food down then obviously I would do what is needed to make things right.

Hi ladies Such a relief to read others going through the same, although I feel for you all! I'm only six weeks down the road (refuse to calculate how many days before birth) and three weeks sick. Couldn't keep any fluids in and only little bits of food. I agree that coke is tempting although even without it I am belching all the time... Pizza in the evening seems to be okay to. I am on Zofran and vitamines B6 as well now and it does make things better. Thankfully the insurance is paying! Good luck to you all!

I got my wrist bands from a pharmacy at MoE - the one just inside the front door at the foodcourt end (it was a while ago tho). As for drugs - I'm a big advocate of taking what's safe to make you feel better - I tried everything! I found navidoxine worked better than anything - although zofran worked well it's also hideously expensive! (I found the wafers worked the best as I didn't have to worry about trying to keep them down for 30 mins after taking, they just dissolve!). However, you should obviously speak with your OB before you take anything. WRT maintaining hydration - keep an eye on how many times you urinate during the day, make sure it's at least 3-4 times. Check your mucosa - inside your mouth, to make sure it's not dry - it should be lubricated with saliva. Obviously if you're concerned, go to your GP or contact your OB and ask about a drip - I was on one three times with my first and it made a huge difference. As for coke or take-away or hot chips or anything like that - think of your baby like this (as horrible as it is!). Babies are parasites in your system- they will literally take everything they need from you before you even have a chance to tkae what your body needs. So they'll always get what they need first - it'll be your body that suffers! WRT sugary drinks, whatever helps - you might just find if you're further along that you'll notice bub will be a little more active and kick more after yo'uve had a coke! ... just survival at this point and every day is closer to delivery! ;)

BabyBezza, I know how you feel; feel sorry for you. I was preggy last year and my first 4 1/2 months were awful. I was sick all day and night. I could not keep any food down. I tried everything (e.g. ginger tea, lemon, ice cubes, mint, honey, etc) and did not work. I was prescribed Zofran and Navidoxine and did not work either. I remember for one week I only survived eating one green apple and a glass of water per day. I was also worried about taking those medicines but in the end I gave birth to a healthy baby girl through vaginal delivery, without episiotomy and epidural. Sorry I cant help you except sharing my experience. PS since then I hated green apple :)

I have looked all over for the motion sickness bands but cant seem to get hold of any. Does anyone know where there are some in stock? Is Zofran safe during pregnancy? I have done a bit of research into things and that rings alarm bells as not being demmed 100% safe...I may be COMPLETELY wrong though. Thanks for the offer of support, thats really kind and I will be in touch should I feel a bit down in the dumps with it all. I will take the advice Meals and see if any of your suggestions work. Funnily enough for 3 days I have kept no food down so last night I thought sod it, if Im gonna throw up I may as well throw up something I like and ordered fast food, and guess what, it stayed down. I also feel full fat coke helps but was unsure if it is a good thing to be drinking whilst pregnant, but right now if it makes me feel better I cant see it doing any serious harm. Just venting on here and knowing others have been through it make me feel so much better and like im not alone with it. Men dont understand and I think they just see it as us pulling a fast one to get out of doing housework. So to know I can talk on here with people that understand bring a little relief. Thanks to you all :)

Thank you for the info and the support. I will look on that website. Hyperemesis is what Ive been worried about as from reading on babycentre it seems like my symptoms fit. I am totally miserable right now and as helpful as DH is trying to be he just doesnt understand how Im feeling. I just hope it passes soon as I am so so hungry but the thought of eating anything turns my stomach as I know it will just reappear afterwards. What treatment have you been given for it? I dont want to end up in hospital as right now our insurance isnt covering us. I am keeping hydrated which I believe is the main thing. One of the main problems with nausea during pregnancy is also related to blood sugar levels. You'll find that if your bl00d sugar levels drops, that you'll actually feel more nauseous. As you're not eating much of anything at all, this will compound your nausea. Try sucking on lollipops, ice pops or just sweets to bring your bl00d sugar levels up - you may feel more able to eat then. Also, when you're able, try snacking constantly. Even if you're only eating one dry cracker every hour or two, this will help with the nausea. As for food - I always found fatty, deep friend food was easier to keep down ( I think it was related to lining my stomach tissue) hot chips worked wonders! Also, full-fat softdrinks - coke was a winner for me. You could also try the nausea bracelets for motion/sea sickness. Accupuncture is meant to work for some people. Keep sucking on ice cubes to maintain hydration - as this is the biggest worry with HG. And as daft as this sounds - I always needed to know I had a place that I could hurl. I used to carry a bucket or bag around with me everywhere as I would stress and worry when I was out or somewhere away from a descrete place to vomit - made me feel more relaxed that if I was going to be sick at least it wasn't going to be into my hands and all over the floor! edited by meals on 08/10/2011

That's good that you're managing to keep hydrated. At the moment I'm on Zofran, but that's only part of my treatment plan; as I knew I was likely to have HG again I started to plan for it early on, and I seem to be rapidly moving through my options! Please feel free to email me for more information, and/or support: [email protected] The Helpher website I shared with you yesterday is also a fantastic resource. Besides the obvious physical symptoms of HG, it can be emotionally isolating. The first 2 pregnancies I didn't know anyone who had ever had HG, and I felt so alone.

There is a severe form of "morning sickness" called hyperemesis gravidarum, have a look at this support website for more info: www.helpher.org There's a section on there to help you decide if your morning sickness is "normal" or if it's more serious and needs treatment. If you are struggling, then please don't delay in seeking treatment and help. No one likes to take medication during pregnancy, but in some cases it is necessary. Huge ((hugs)) to you, as someone who is on their 3rd pregnancy with hyperemesis it's a cause that's close to my heart and I absolutely hate to think of others suffering out there.

Sorry to hear about your sickness - it's awful isn't it. Try all fruit popsicles. If you're worried then I'm sure your Doctor won't mind checking on you. Prenatal vitamins that have B6 can help as the B6 helps to keep nausea away. So long as you are still hydrated I'm sure it will pass and little bits of food will be absorbed. Try some ginger tea as well.
