Hi all,
Im 33 weeks pregnant and had started to suffer from SPD at about 28 weeks. I started to see a physio who gave me exercises to do. These exercises helped a lot at the time.

Now, 5 weeks on, Im still doing the exercises but the SPD is definitely getting worse. Its quite bad now at this stage. Has anyone suffered from this who could perhaps suggest something? Im not looking for a miracle cure but maybe something to alleviate the pain a little please?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Heya, I had it severely from 18 weeks with my 1st pregnancy & was almost completely bed ridden by the end. I definitely recommend wearing the support belt as much as possible. Water physio helped as well & gave short term relief & some really good news is.... 1) I was cured once I gave birth & 2) I didn't have it nearly as bad with my 2nd pregnancy... HTH

Hey I had it with both my kids - from about 16 weeks and it got worse as time went on There were some days when the spd along with shooting pains from the stiatica nerve that literally left me unable to move or turn over - on these day I got a full body massage and it really really help (with a few hours would be able to walk again) I was obviously pregnant so the ladies were careful to make it more of a gentle relaxing massage ...instead of laying on my back ...i would lie on my right side then left side It really helped with my back pain also I made sure they avoided the ankle area (apparently massage here can induce labour)

Oh my - I feel your pain - at least I felt it when I was pregnant. Similarly an osteo really helped me, but I think the two biggest things that helped me were getting a physio to actually come out to my car and adjust my driving position and learning how to climb stairs/get out of bed with minimal leg separation.

Yes I had it as well. Killed me! Went to see Lauren from the Dubai Osteopathic centre on wasl road. She really helped with the sessions. Depends on the the individual degree but in my case (not to scare you) it went on beyond the birth and she had to work with me after as well. But during, the sessions with her and te pelvic floor exercises that the physio gave me really cut my pain by about 75%

Hi, I had this too, from being about 6 months pregnant. My only suggestion is to rest as much as possible! It's so easy to overdo it. In hindsight I was too active in those last 3 months of pregnancy and I didn't do myself any favours. I had 6 months of regular physio post-birth and it helped. After the birth I was also able to take large doses of ibuprofen which helped. All the best!
