My daughter changed nursery a couple of times and would always cry her first few days (she started nursery at 11 months old), and at every nursery they said it's best to leave with a quick goodbye (only the first day I could stay for about 10 minutes, every other day it was just a quick hug, kiss ,goodbye and out the door). It was very hard at times especially when she was smaller because she would be hysterical, and walking away hearing her cries was heartbreaking. I would usually call about an hour after dropping her to check on her, and they would go check and tell me she wasn't crying any more. At each nursery she settled within a few days and stopped crying at drop off and was happy and bubbly when we went to pick her. The idea is, if you stick around just because they are crying, they will cry everyday in hopes that you will stay. It does seem cruel but it works. There have been other kids in her classes who would always cry no matter what, even half way into the term, so I know each child is different. I hope you find a suitable nursery for your child, I know it's not easy!

Does anyone know of a nursery that supports attachment parenting? Unfortunately my lo started nursery but they do not want me to comfort him even though he's screaming like mad and they are unable to comfort him. Im looking for a nurturing nursery that has a good transition process to ease the separation anxiety in a gentle manner.
