Ok so I think I had my first one since having my lo, now 5 months old but that was around 34 days ago now? How long do they take to come back and get back to a normal routine?

I soooo don't miss having periods! hehe - I worked out that I'd only had 1 proper period in slightly over 3 years! Bliss!

Breastfeeding doesn't necessarily stop you from having periods and becoming pregnant. My periods returned after about 5 months postpartum, although I was nursing exclusively. The return of my periods had no effect on my childs nursing or the milk (as far as I can tell), but it took a while for my cycles to be regular. I have read that the likelyness to resume with menstruation increases with the number of hours that are between feedings, that makes sense to me, because it happened to me as soon as I had longer breaks from nursing during the night. But I also know women who didn't get their periods until their babies weaned.

I'm a long term bfer so in my case it took a while: 18 months with dd1. Then conceived dd2 on 2nd cycle. Dd2 is now 2 years 1 month and I haven't had a period... although I am now 3 months pg. So I must have caught the 1st ov! I soooo don't miss having periods!

It all depends of if your breastfeeding your LO or not... In general, it should come approximatly a couple of months after you stop breastfeeding.

I can't remember after my first but I recall that it was considerably longer than the 5 months after my second.

oh man jojo, trust me, u really can get pregnant if ur breastfeeding even if u haven't yet had ur periods. never rely on BF to be ur anti preggers barrier. I had 2 friends that thought this is a good bulletproof solid plan so they never took the pill or any other precaution and they got preggers within only several months after the delivery.

If you still bf its very unlikely you will get pregnant and if your not not bf your period should come back roughly after the 7th month when your child is born. every woman is different though!

I had my first 2 weeks after finishing bf my eldest and was pregnant 2 weeks after that (1yr PP)! hahahahaha! Second time around they came back while I was still BF because the pill was mucking me around - but I simply couldn't take any chances!

Hey JS just check your not preggers if you've have one and now late not to put the wind up you. My SIL had 2 babies last year 1 in Jan and 1 in Dec (irish twins!!), she bottle fed both tho. I BF both of mine and after 6wks they came every 21 days ahhh (DD2 was BF for 2yrs)

I was bfing but now stopped, I think that's why I got one. With my first baby I was back in action again after 6 weeks and pretty much back to normal thereafter. I don't like the feeling that it could happen at any time :s
