we're not at the stage of uni yet - and unfortunately haven't got any medical certificates as we didn't have a formal diagnosis at the relevant time, if we had had one then she would probably have ended up extra time during the exam and then achieved the higher grade. It's just a shame as she can't see how well she has done, but I do understand her disappointment :(

So what do you do with a teen who has a brilliant result in the (medical) circumstances but who is very disappointed! Only down one grade on what she hoped for, but she can't see what she has achieved despite the odds she'd been dealt this year. OK she can resit, but that doesn't get us through this current blip. I so feel for her - she has done brilliantly in our opinion but it's not good enough in hers. I think it will take her a while to see things in a a more positive light. Keep telling her you are proud of her etc but give her some time to accept the results.

October, if she needed certain grades to get into a certain university for a certain course, she should call the Uni immediately, today, to explain the situation, and ask them to reconsider even if she hasn't met the required grades, particularly if you have medical certificates to show.

I am a little bit in shock. My neighbours girl is 17 and pretty dim and not hard working. She came over after I finished work a number of times and I helped her study for her A levels because she didnt want to upset her parents. Anyway, she got 3As and 1B! She has been accepted into medical school in the UK!! Im so pleased for her!
